If anyone is thinking of attending AMSA this year let me know. I'd be happy to meet you (as I live about 2 mins from the "hotel" u'll be staying at). I will probably be attending but haven't made up my mind yet.

I second RSE on this one.
I'm in Tasmania and I'll be going to it and I encourage people to go :).

I made the website for the convention. Check it out at http://www.amsa.org.au/hobart2004/ (you can register online there)

plus I'm in the process of setting up a photo gallery of past AMSA conventions. There's some photos up there already.

PS. RSE, it was nice meeting you the other day :)

Please on my behalf, mock any NZ students who fork out that much cash to attend ;D

I'll be sure to do that :)...isn't it like double the money for Nzers anyway? (due to the low currency?)

Actually, as the NZ dollar is gaining strength against the Aussie dollar at the moment it's about 89 cents (AU) to the dollar (NZ) - not quite double, but it's actually nearly cheaper to fly to Australia from Auckland than it is to fly from Adelaide for example - works out pretty close - not that I'm going mind you! Whatever happened to "we're all povo students with no money"? :)

Pitman good to hear from u, how r things going? I don't think i'll be able to make AMSA as i got stuck with a surgery rotation and I'm not sure if i should miss a week of it. however i live literally two mins a way from the hotel where u will be staying (casino i believe) so if u wanna meet up let me know.

have fun. wish i could go hear it's gonna be a blast! *I know the planners...and if they say it's gonna be good, should be good.

hey red, amsa rocked. except the casino hotel had 0 internet access. UQ kicked everyone's butt in debate, hehehe. lotsa very young melbourne girls in the hot tub. more nudity, hookups and sponsored inebriation than could ever be possible in the US (and the strippers just wouldn't be PC). nice city hobart, got to see Port Arthur and surrounds. bit chilly though!

just in and out here, but sure do expect to see you at the next one in sydney!
