View Full Version : Medicine Sub-I Masreya 06-11-2004, 08:24 PM Hi all!! Does anyone know where there are good medicine SubIs? or if anyone has had a good or bad med sub-I experience....please share. Thanks ak1978 06-12-2004, 12:52 PM Just a related question, what is the best way to prepare/study for medicine sub-I's? I feel like if you only study what you used in your 3rd year clerkship, you're not going to stand out from 3rd years on the rotation. erinmed2k4 06-12-2004, 03:29 PM you will stand out because you will have had the experience of an entire medicine rotation (completed) before your Sub-I...the third years won't. Read from the obvious sources (Harrison's) about your patients and if you have time....read about the other patients on the service in case you are pimped about them on rounds. No better depth and breadth of pathology anywhere IMHO. Masreya 06-12-2004, 10:33 PM I heard Cook County was not a good place for a subI because they make you do lots of scut work, like wheeling patients to test and back.. Is that true in your experience? Adawaal 06-13-2004, 08:59 PM I heard Cook County was not a good place for a subI because they make you do lots of scut work, like wheeling patients to test and back.. Is that true in your experience? You have to do a little bit of that, true. However, it's nothing compared to what it was in the old hospital (where I did my 3rd year IM clerkship). But the flip side of you doing scut is that you have total control of your patients. I often went a week at a time without consulting my residents or attending on patient care issues. Sure, they were there if you needed them, but if you're competent they'll also step back and let you run the show. Hell, I was writing for narcs with no co-signature and doing I&Ds on the floor without supervision. County has always been what you make of it. |
