I don't see the option for life membership on their application:

No, you must pay each year...

No one-time life-time membership...

Dr. Doan,
Do you think prelims who matched in ophtho are allowed to apply now for membership to get the ball rolling?
Thanks.

When you get closer to your PGY-2, your program should send you an application form to return through them. Once your program verifies your residency status to the AAO, then your application is complete. I believe there is no cost for membership during residency or at least it is reduced. Hope this helps!

Good idea. Talk to your program director and get the ball going. You can receive an extra year of AAO publications: EyeNet, Ophthalmology (blue journal), etc...

Membership is FREE for residents.
