We've got a phys exam "practical" coming soon.... Does anyone know of any websites that have good abdominal exam videos on them? They may not exist, but I figured it was worth a shot. I've got Mosby's to look at pictures but I'd really like to see a video of these procedures before I have to practice on a standardized patient.
Thanks!

when doing a physical exam, the ENTIRE abdomen is important, not just one or two sites.

my uni juts shot some of them, bad luck is that it's on the uni's server
here's some pointers:
a) start on observation from the top, the bend/squat and look at it (flat/distended etc)..describe any anomalies you see
b) then light palpation followed by deep palpation, while looking at the patient's face...you have to do it all over the abdomen, probably you can name the areas as you go through it..this is to check for any pain, masses etc
c) then the liver, spleen (include the percussion bit here)..i'm not sure if you want to include palpation of the kidneys..is this a system based physical exam?
d) auscultate..bowel sounds, abdominal aorta

Virginia has one of the best sites with physical exam videos.
