I just took the DATs today and am concerned (mostly) about my PAT score. I am applying for fall 2005 and I am wondering a) will have a chance to re-take the exam before schools make decisions regarding interviews? and b) SHOULD I re-take the exam? My scores are as follows:
AA: 20
QR: 26
RC: 18
BIO: 21
GC: 20
OC: 17
PAT: 15
I have a 3.2 from UVA (upper caliber school), lots of volunteering/dental experience and extracirriculars. Can I expect to get in with this PAT score? If so, which schools?

ivy leaguers might be a bit tough but you have a solid academic average..if your science gpa is also over 3 then you should be good to go. 15 is considered average..a 17 is usually considered acceptable by most schools. the 2 point difference won't make or break u..
you could always request the schools to put you on hold to see the next set of scores...

You'll be just fine. Listen, the DAT is a standardized test and only reflects your performance on that particular set of questions on that specific day. Your PAT score by no means signifies that you write with your left foot or can't delineate fine structures. I have had two directors of admissions state that they think the DAT is hogwash and place much more emphasis on an applicant's grades, background, and personality. That is not to say that all schools share their sentiments - rather it is to communicate that a 15 on the PAT is not the be-all of end-all. And now since the DAT is ove I'll give you your next big assignment: sit back and wait for those interview invites to pour in. Best of luck!
