I just (*JUST*) bought a new iPAQ 1940. Mainly 'cuz I got a killer deal on it (half the price of the Palm 72)... but also because it seemed like it would function better with what I have on my laptop. Then again, perhaps I'm just afraid of change :D . And, of course, being a PDA virgin, I have some questions:

1. Does anyone know of any good extra free software for the iPAQ? (perhaps important information: It is running the newer Windows Mobile 2003 OS)

2. Are there any known issued with the iPAQ?

3. Any thoughts on the good/bad/ugly of iPAQ vs. Palm?

4. Any software that I absolutely should fork out the dough for?

Thanks. I'm hoping like h**l it'll help keep me organized!

Hi

I love the wisbar, which is free, and really does a nice job at replacing the standard bar.

You probably will need a PIM replacement. I'd go with Pocket Informant. It is a really good PIM.

I have an iPaq, I really like it. Check out www.download.com and search under PocketPC software. There are lots and lots of free programs, trails, etc.

Before you load any software on it, I would suggest going to hp's website and searching for updating ROM, software, drivers, etc. first. It would suck to load all of that on there, find out a bug affects you, then have to reload the software after you update the ROM.
