howdy! does anyone know whether or not it is better to take the pcats once and do well.. or to take it twice and do better the 2nd time? i know.. kinda stupid. but i spoke to an admissions counselor at u of mich & she recommended just doing it once. just giving it all you got b/c some schools (i dont know which ones) will average the two scores. wondering what y'all thought! :)
thanks!

I actually havent taken it yet :( I correspond with the asst. dean at UMich and she advised me to just take it once - I was planning to take it in Nov & then again in Jan (just in case). I definitely trust her judgement (20+ years in the system) but I'm not quite sure if I trust myself.

I think its probably best just to try and do your very best on that first PCAT test no matter what. If you are happy with your grade, then don't repeat it. I don't know for a fact, but I would think that a person that took the PCAT once and aced it would look better than a person who took it 4 times and finally got there score up to that same level. I'm not sure though, just guessing. Just take it and do your best and then decide after that whether you need to take it again or not.
Good luck.

I am a second year pre-pharmacy student now, and although not required as a pre-requisite I was wondering if I should take physiology to brush up on the bio material. Is this advisable or will the Kaplan book suffice? Also I'm really bad at math especially without a calculator...does anyone have any tips???

What school are you applying to that doesn't have physiology as a pre req? That's interesting...
At any rate, if you haven't had it and it's not required, I wouldn't take it just for the PCAT. There wasn't enough questions solely over physiology to make it worth it in my opinion. As for the math it will likely depend on when you take the test as they seem to change it quite often. The Kaplan book didn't have nearly as much calculus or statistics as the PCAT seemed to have.
