babybop112 02-07-2005, 10:04 AM whats going on people?? this posting is for all those who have been accepted to Drexel and are planning to attend!! feel free to post any comments/ questions concerning housing, classes, Philly, general, etc...
Also go ahead and post where you went to undergrad......
I'll begin: Northwestern University
lisa13579 02-07-2005, 10:48 AM Congrats! I'm a first year at Drexel and absolutely love it. :)
Freakingzooming 02-20-2005, 11:10 AM Heard from them yesterday. (yay!!!) I can't wait to see the school again. I also want to check out the Hanenham Hospital this time around if there's a second look.
I was actually searching for this thread, didn't want to be the dork starting one.
I'm from Chicago too (U of Chicago). When did you hear from them? For the IFM v. PIL curriculum, my mom got the letter so I didn't get to read it but she told me we had to choose within 21 days of receiving the letter, the track we wanted. I guess I'm going have to do more researching. I sat in for the info session on PIL but still not sure if I'm 100% committed.
09Doc 02-20-2005, 09:47 PM Went to Tulane undergrad...
Just got my acceptance as well and so excited to go!... Im sending in my deposit tomorrow. I really liked the fact IFM is symptom based, and overall I just felt really comfortable in the school. (Residency placements are pretty nice too, and so is the faculty).
I was considering the PIL... it seems that it would be extremely helpful in the long run. But eventhough Im sure that you'd learn everything you need to, I cant see how it would be as information-dense as the IFM lectures? Any insights?
When do you think it would be a good time to start looking for housing??
CA med app 02-21-2005, 03:52 PM When did you all interview?
musicdr 02-21-2005, 04:04 PM I'm from Chicago too (U of Chicago). When did you hear from them? For the IFM v. If you guys have questions about the PIL program, I'm a first year and can answer any questions! I'm not sure that 21 day thing is set, but its a good idea to send in the paper work soon. People in our class actually switched in during orientation, and some people switched out so its not all set in stone.
notsittinpretty 02-22-2005, 02:29 PM Whats up everyone...i've been accepted to drexel. Has anyone received financial aid info or any sort of follow-up from them? I haven't heard anything from them since i received a deposit confirmation.
naimist 02-22-2005, 02:45 PM Hey musicdr,
Do you know anything about the waitlist at Drexel? How many people get off of it and when is the earliest we'll hear by? Thanks!

Sorry, I don't have specifics! did you write a letter of interest since your interview?? That would be my first recommendation!
Just from talking to classmates, lots of people are accepted after february and March. I really don't know if its from waitlists or not. I wish I could help you out more.

Biffer 05-17-2005, 10:06 PM hell yeah--just got accepted yesterday!! I am extremely excited, still a bit numb, and looking forward to meeting my fellow dragons. If anyone has any q's about philly (more specifically downtown), I would love to help as i've resided in philly(btw, one of the best/most dense biomedical science hubs in the US) for the past 6 yrs... I love this town and look forward to 4 more excellent years.
I graduated from U o' Penn in 2003 and have been working as a research tech at HUP since (not a bad gig, but really happy to move on) I may or may not decide to stay at my current apt downtown (15min from queen lane)--any advice from some current students regarding shuttle hours/regional rail accesibility would be greatly appreciated.
love always,
biffer

Hey, I graduated from Penn 2003 too. I work at CHOP. Geez, maybe we know each other. what was your major biffer?
Biffer 05-18-2005, 11:49 AM yeah cottagepepper, we must be somewhat familiar as i was BBB as well, haha. I wasn't too fond of BBB 251 or for that matter, much of the major.
i'm too lazy to PM at the moment so i'll partially out myself here- first name F...D, last name starts w. R ..... that should be specific enough.
u going to drexel?
HAmin112 05-18-2005, 01:54 PM sorry im relatively new to this website, and i've seen bump written in a few places. what is bump?
notsittinpretty 05-18-2005, 01:58 PM what's up everyone?!? quick question...have you guys received your award letters? I just called the financial aid office and the lady told me that i still have to sign my master promissary note. It was my understanding that we sign this after the award letters are issued, correct? How are we supposed to sign it if we haven't gotten the award letters? Have you guys signed it?
tigress 05-18-2005, 02:04 PM Hey you two guys who are leaving research positions at HUP and CHOP, do y'all mind if I PM you? I'm looking for a job in Philly and haven't found anything. I'm not too keen on being in a basic science lab but something is better than nothing!

Hi Biff,
I got waitlisted at Penn but most likely I will go to Drexel. I was BBB major too... I liked 251, but that's all in the past. hmmm... I don't know any F...D but yeah, you can PM me whenever you don't feel so lazy.

karenwkyk 05-18-2005, 02:25 PM Yes, please feel free to PM me.
Hi Guy! I got accepted in Feb, 05...did anyone of you heard anything from the financial aid affice, I sent in my stuff ( except the promissory note) a while a go....but still hear nothing from them
RaaMD 05-18-2005, 03:15 PM I've done a search of living situations in Philly, and found some good info. Does anyone have their own perspective they want to offer. Looking forward to Drexel this fall.
Biffer 05-18-2005, 03:55 PM hey guys,
I've been living in philadelphia (west philly and currently center city) for the past 6yrs and I've found the city constantly stimulating and affordable, very rare. If you want to live downtown (appx 15-20min from queen lane), you will have to look pretty thoroughly to find a decently priced studio/1bdrm. I have been living at 1530 spruce st. (great location) in a 2bdrm for 660$.mo-very reasonable-my bldg is far from the nicest in the area, but very livable. Overall, cheaper bargains are hard to find downtown but quality of life/access to culture/entertainment are at your doorstep. Personally, i've enjoyed the distractions of living in a large city and i'm leaning toward staying in center city through medical school. also-shuttle/regional train service are very closeby.
sorry, i can't really speak to the area surrounding drexel with the exception of manayunk which is an affordable, hip area within a 5 min drive. After scanning rents online, it seems that the queen lane area has some really cheap 1bdrm options (350-600ish).
safety isn't a major concern in center city (one of the safest areas in phill) and the area around drexel med seems pretty safe/charming, nothing blighted and shacked up as is the case surrounding temple u in north philly.
hope this helps,
Biff
Biffer 05-18-2005, 03:59 PM yes tigress--there are many new vacancies, please PM-
btw-I work in a clinical research lab, very interesting stuff.
tigress 05-18-2005, 06:38 PM Oh yeah I also want to say to all of y'all -- congrats! Drexel is such an awesome school. I'll probably (hopefully) be there the year after you.
As far as where to live, I know of people who live in Center City, some in University City (Penn area), and a bunch live right in East Falls area near the Drexel campus (Queen Lane). My husband and I live in Bala Cynwyd, which is another suburb about 15 minutes from school, like Manayunk. There are a ton of nice areas around here with pretty affordable housing. Probably the best deals are in Center City, though, or maybe near Queen Lane. Also if you live near school you don't necessarily need a car, but anywhere else you do of course.
Anyway not completely on topic, but this afternoon we went on some really nice hiking trails at Wissahickon Gorge and I fell in love with the Chestnut Hill area. It has these cute cobblestone streets and little shops, sort of village like, and then these huge fancy houses right next to the wooded trails and park area. There are so many neat places in Philly to explore!

Drexel Med
Class of 2007
power10n2 05-25-2005, 09:58 PM Hey everyone,
I'll be going to Drexel Med in the Fall too.
I just graduated from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. I'm a native of Pittsburgh and I'm looking forward to living in Philadelphia.
I did send in all the financial aid stuff, not the promisory note, and haven't heard anything from them yet.
I'm starting the process of finding an apartment now.
OpheliaButz 05-26-2005, 07:54 AM OpheliaButz is coming to Drexel this fall. Watch out...!
sg4runner 05-29-2005, 11:33 AM Hello, I'll be at Drexel with you guys this Fall :) . I'm from California; graduated from UC San Diego in 2003, took a year off and traveled, and am now finishing my year in Georgetown's Special Masters program. I miss California, but I love DC and am definitely looking forward to getting to know Philadelphia! I was actually born there (at MCP) but moved away when I was about 2 so I don't remember anything.
I still don't know where I want to live, but a few people have mentioned that Manayunk would be a cool place, so I'm considering that. What about you guys?
Looking forward to meeting you.
mdpdgirl 05-29-2005, 02:30 PM Hi!
I'll be at Drexel in August too. (I still can't bring myself to call august fall :P) I graduated from U. Nebraska but grew up in State College and I can't wait to be back in PA. I'm actually moving on tuesday and will live with my sister in valley forge for the summer while I find an apartment and stuff. I'm going to be doing PIL ..it just really fits how I like to learn.
Right now I think I'd like to live near the school, but I'll see what I find.
Flick 05-29-2005, 05:10 PM Hi everyone,
I am a first year finishing up in 5 days! Just wanted to welcome you all and let you know that your orientation is going to be a lot of fun! I am on a few of the committees, and we are planning some really fun events(I won't spoil it for you just yet, and instead let you get the official notices in the mail, plus not all the details have been finalized).
A couple of you asked if you could still live downtown and get to school. I actually live in Center City and take the shuttle every day. It runs every 30 minutes from Hahnemann hospital to Queen Lane, and is very reliable. One thing you might want to keep in mind is that as first years, your exams/quizzes are often at 8 or 8:30 am, so that can be kind of a drag having to get even earlier just to make the shuttle! However, I personally feel there is so much more to do in Center City than in East Falls, but each unto their own.
Feel free to PM me with specific questions.
Enjoy the rest of your summer, and I look forward to meeting you all in August!
Flick
UnskinnyBop 05-30-2005, 11:12 PM I've been living in Center City too, and I'm going to stay there for school. I'll just crash at my friends' place (in East Falls) when we have exams. Then everyone can crash at my apartment when we go out in Center City. I think it's a good deal.
econstudent 05-31-2005, 01:55 PM How much is rent in Center City?
musicdr 05-31-2005, 02:13 PM How much is rent in Center City?
Rent varies in Philly from about 500- 600 for studios, and 550-800 for 1Brs. The thing to remember in Center city is you probably won't have parking, and its usually a little more expensive for the same size apartment you could find around the Queen Lane area. You definitely cut your rent down if you live in a 2Br with a roomate. 2Br go for around 700-1,000 for some pretty decent places. Think about it! I'm planning on doing that next year to cut down on costs.
Rent in general varies depending on amenities, the area, all that kind of stuff. I will pay 775 next year, but I know people who pay in the area of 500-550. If you spend a good deal looking now, you're more likely to find a good deal than if you wait. Many 4th years are moving out this month so lots of apartments are opening up. Don't wait too long though!
Just my two cents.
hwong14 05-31-2005, 06:43 PM Hi everyone,
I just finished the Drexel MPH program and my roommate is a PIL-1. East Falls is a great place to live, and if anyone has any questions about it, PM me.
Along those lines, however, we're trying to leave our apartment August 1, and it would be great to pass it along to other med students. 2nd floor, large 2 br, 1 bath, attic and basement storage, lots of free street parking. Individually-controlled C/A and heat. We're looking for someone to take over our lease August 1 and then renew September 1. Orientation starts August 1, so that's perfect timing (we can give it to you a few days early if you need)! Rent is $935/month + util. Did I mention it's right across the street from the med school?
karenwkyk 06-01-2005, 12:27 PM Hi Everybody,
I just rent a studio at East fall ( 1/2 block from the medical school) on last saturday at a very reasonable rate (<$500); I find this place on the Student housing data base.
Click current student at the home page, then click on student affair office, and then you will see a link to the student housing data base.
By the way, did anyone hear anything from the financial aid office yet; I am still waiting for my award letter  , I have no idea when will they send it to me
:luck:
Flick 06-01-2005, 01:06 PM For those of you waiting on financial aid, you might have to wait a bit longer b/c of some administrative changes going on:
1. The Director of Financial just stepped down, so the office is a little short-staffed right now.
2. I think they usually process current students first, before the first years(don't quote me on that).
3. There is a whole bunch of activity going on right now with current students consolidating their loans before the scheduled rate increase in July, so that is no doubt backing things up as well.
As you will quickly learn, you have to be VERY patient with our financial aid office. In fact, it would probably be a good idea to have some money with you for the first week weeks of classes, b/c our loan checks have always come in late.
PM me if you have more specific questions about financial aid.

Be patient. Very patient.
We had some problems last year with finacial aid, and if you are expecting a check to pay for August rent and bills you won't get it before then. The checks normally go out around the 2nd week in August IF all your paperwork was handed in on time, and correct. Things that can help:
1) Don't be afraid to call and ask if your paperwork is in and correct. Call several times over the summer. It won't hurt.
2) If something is wrong, take care of it right away. Call the director if things aren't working(who is an interim person until they find a new one), as that usually helps to fix problems quickly
3) If you're not using drexel's preferred lender, be prepared to be on top of the office. Several students who used other lenders (like T.H. E. loans), had problems with paperwork, checks, etc. If you're on top of it though, it shoulndn't be a problem.
I personally don't think this is a drexel related problem at all, I've always had tons of problems with institution finacial aid and you just have to learn to be persistant and patient.
notsittinpretty 06-02-2005, 10:42 AM So can i ask how many of you '09ers are moving fwd. with this financial aid? So far i've completed my master promissary note and done most of the paper work. They ahve yet to send me my award letter, so i called them and they told me how much federal subsidized and unsubsidized i would receive. They also said i would need to do the alternative loan program through medloans for a decent some of money due to my high efc. Anyway, so i started fillling out the Alternative Loan on the internet but for some reason was unable to electronically sign it. So i called sallie mae and the kind lady said that i couldn't submit this loan electronically (who knew?) but had to fill out the actual paper form. Before i can submit it to sallie mae however, i need drexel to sign off and consent that i really do need that amount of money from the ALP. Only problem is
1) The lady at sallie mae said this needs to be done by June 15 (are you kidding.....how was i supposed to know that????)
2) nobody, i mean nobody, has picked up at the drexel financial aid office in three days!
What do i do?!? Help!!

When did you receive a master promissory note? I was accepted at Drexel but have not received anything about financial aid except for a postcard telling me about a 10-installation payment plan.
Ascensionmd 06-12-2005, 12:38 AM anyone goin to drexel but in the LA/OC area?

Elphie 06-27-2005, 11:18 AM Just thought I'd bump this thread to bring all the Drexel '09-ers out of the woodwork. I too will be heading there in August. How's everyone doing? Have you guys started looking for housing? Well anyway, I look forward to meeting you guys in just over a month (wow, that's way too soon!).
soleil 07-03-2005, 10:06 AM HI :) Congrats on Drexel! I am a 2nd year now and love it here. Feel free to ask me any questions.
shaunaiam 07-03-2005, 10:13 PM So after waiting for what seemed like FOREVER I finally got accepted to Drexel about 4 days ago. ACK! Right now I live in Mid-Missouri with my soon-to-be husband. We're actually moving out there to stay with one of his friends (about an hour outside Philly) 3 days after the wedding!
So does anyone have any advice on apartment hunting from afar? Anyone have extra space they want to rent out to a couple? Honestly, I know it will all work out EVENTUALLY, but I am really stressing out about finding any kind of decent/affordable place near campus so late in the game.
Also... does anyone know what kind of financial aid I might get (and how long it might take) considering classes start in just over a month?
Anyway, can't wait to see you all! I'm so excited!!

Don't worry, everything WILL work out. :) You will be able to get your financial aid with everyone else (a few weeks into school). Just keep in touch with the financial aid office to make sure everything is in and done correctly.
As for apartments, check out "housing list" from this link
http://webcampus.med.drexel.edu/osa/orientation/ and email multiple current 2nd years about their opinion on housing ("contact a second year student" from above link)
Congrats and welcome!

Gosh! Are you coming back to Cali if you find housing out there? We don't have much time before we start orientation!! :P
inferno 07-08-2005, 03:03 PM i got an email today about signing a prom. note - i JUST got off the waitlist last week and have not gotten anything regarding fin aid yet. is this normal?
did you guys get a fin aid packet that you filled out and sent in?
thanks!!
shaunaiam 07-09-2005, 10:38 AM Same here. I can't sign into the Drexel Web stuff because I don't have a name yet because they haven't gotten my check, but yet they seem concerned that I haven't signed a MPN. Are we supposed to do both of those links? Or just one or...? I have no idea and I didn't get the email until last night, so I guess I'll call Monday?
Anyone have any hints?
Yeah... I will be in town the 22nd and trying to find an apartment then before school starts. Ack!
PAPPAPPAP 07-11-2005, 10:52 PM Whats up everyone.. I just got off the waitlist a couple weeks ago and I am really excited to be in philly (Eventhough Im from Pittsburgh and Ive grown up with a loathing for the place). I went to undergrad at Wake Forest so let me know if there are any fellow ACC fans out there. ...Anyway, I spent a couple days in philly looking for places so I can give anyone a decent idea of the cost of things.. but only in center city... I'm living in Park Towne apts right next to the art museum in center city, its a slight pain in the ass commute but necessary because I'm living with my girlfriend who does teach for america in camden. I have a couple of questions though:
- Whats the deal with this social events thing...it sounds like a good time and everything but are people actually doing it? Let me know if youve heard anything. I dont want to drop a c note and be the only one there.
- Computers? Who has to get a new one and how is that going?
Ill sure ill have more questions but in the mean time, congrats to everyone and Im looking forward to meeting you all.
sierra89 07-11-2005, 11:27 PM I guess I was planning on going to Orientation Week but I haven't sent in any $$.
About computers, I have seen threads where people have talked about really, really good deals, but I'm not getting another one 'cause I bought one a year ago. I think I saw a thread about Dell laptops? I don't know how to get the promo codes to get such discounts on laptop computers, otherwise I'd post that here!

I would recommend the social events during orientation week!!! Yes, the 100 bucks seems like alot, but you will have so much fun you won't care by the end of the week. Our class (2nd years) had about 90% of the people go to the events, so that shows you most people go!!!! Orientation week overall is an absolute blast, and the social events are definitely one of the reasons.
shaunaiam 07-12-2005, 08:37 AM I'll be going to at least most of the social event things... I figure "why not." :)
See you there!
sg4runner 07-12-2005, 11:44 AM I'm gonna go to the orientation events. I figure that'll be the best time to meet people before we all get crazy and stressed out :)
I found a studio apartment in Alden Park- an apt complex right by campus. Anyone else living around there? I would've liked to have lived in center city, but I feel like it would be too tempting not to go to class.
Are any of you californians or people from other west coast states, shipping your cars to Philly? I have a few shipping companies in mind, but I'd like to see what others are doing.

sg4runner 07-12-2005, 01:10 PM im heading up there this weekend to look at alden park. is it nice?
I really liked Alden Park. It's a bit more expensive than the other complexes around there, but it seems worht it- gated, lots of amenities, and parking is not a problem. The staff seems really helpful, and I know of a few second years who are living there. The only con is that I've heard the windows are drafty and since the heating/AC is electric and you have to pay for your own electricity (gas and water are included), the bills can get pretty expensive. So just be prepared for that. I got a studio though, so I'm hoping it won't take as much to heat it up, and I'm also gonna try to seal the windows a little more and buy thick curtains.
I also looked at Carlton Park and School Lane House. They were okay too, but after a lot of thinking I decided to go with Alden cuz I felt most comfortable there.
Btw, most of those complexes aren't open on Sunday and you have to have an appt with them on Saturdays (I found this out the hard way), but if you go to their leasing offices and ask them to squeeze you in, you'll be fine. Or, you may have been smarter than me and already have an appt :) Good luck!
sierra89 07-12-2005, 01:52 PM Are any of these three (Alden Park, Carlton Park, School Lane House) within walking distance of the campus? Thanks.

Yup, they're all within a short walking distance of Campus. I live in Alden Park, and I renewed my lease for the next year. Feel free to PM if you have any questions about it!
sierra89 07-12-2005, 02:07 PM You're shipping your car from DC to Philly??? Anyway, yes, I'm shipping my car, and I'm still trying to sort out what company would be worth using. The quotes I've gotten range from $890 to $950. I'd like a fully refundable deposit, I think. So many options...

mimi1 07-12-2005, 04:12 PM Congrats on going to Drexel!! You guys are going to love it!
Just a suggestion- I would shop around for health insurance before you commit to the school's plan. Depending on what kind of coverage you want, there are plans out there that are A LOT cheaper than the school's plan and the school doesn't really tell you about this. For example, I have a plan with Aetna (PPO40 plan) where I pay $86 a month for medical plus dental coverage. THe school's plan is much more expensive and is more coverage than I really need right now. So, check out the Aetna website and see what they have to offer.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about Drexel!!
Enjoy your summers!!!
smellydre 07-12-2005, 11:30 PM Hey guys!
I was just out in Philly for the weekend to find a place to live, and luckily was able to do that. I looked at Alden Parks but they didnt have any studios left when I was there, but the complex is just classic. When I was on campus I was talking to some people about housing, and they said that in the past students have had problems with school lane house and so its not on their list of housing recommendations anymore. I dont know exactly what kind of problems they had, but that was enough for me.
Im not going to have a car so living by school was important (I ended up at Charlwin, I dont think you can get any closer to school :) ) Oh and I am definately going to orientation, I think it'll be fun.
Have any of you newly-accepted people been able to "pick up" your computer account? I was accepted end of June and Ive tried but it wont let me, and I know that Drexel has received my payment for my spot...Im not sure what to do.
Thanks!

What kind of computer does everyone have/recommend? Also, how do we get that added onto our aid package?

I want to start out with the disclaimer that I have no personal knowledge of when/how Drexel's computer accounts are generated.
But, based on my prior experience working in tech support for a college, I've encountered plenty of people who have trouble activating their account, and sometimes it's not their fault. Your ID/SSN or DOB might be entered improperly into their database, and that would prevent you from activating your account. If you have more than one address (mailing address such as PO Box and a home address, two parents' homes, etc.), try all the ZIP codes you can.
So if you can't obtain an account here: http://www.drexel.edu/computeraccounts, what I would do is call (215) 895-1958 or e-mail Accounts@drexel.edu.
:luck:
sierra89 07-13-2005, 02:59 PM Hey,
What kind of computer does everyone have/recommend? Also, how do we get that added onto our aid package?
I'm pretty sure the cost of the computer is added into the first-year student budget.
I have a thinkpad which I bought a year ago from insight.com. It was previously returned to the company, so I got it for $300 off! Otherwise, I wouldn't have bought it. IMO, it doesn't matter what computer you buy, and I personally would stay away from HP/Compaq even though I know someone who has had no problems with her HP notebook she bought a year ago. But if it's a good deal, go for it. Try browsing through fatwallet.com's computer section for coupon codes (side note: this is what I couldn't remember in an earlier post I wrote about Dell laptops!! :D) that you can use when ordering from a company online.
Drexel "requires" XP Pro (and I wonder if that is REALLY necessary), but I would still keep that in mind when you are shopping for a computer.
shaunaiam 07-14-2005, 05:55 AM I know they received my $$ last week and just last night I could get a computer account. FYI, my "permanent zip code" was actually my "current" zip code.. don't know if anyone else had that problem. Luckily I was frustrated enough with their system to just try all hte zip codes I have lived at or had mail sent to in the last couple years. Haha.

Just picked up my car that was shipped from San Francisco to Philly. I used DAS (Dependable auto shippers). They were pretty good. The car was on time, and with their full coverage insurance, the total cost was $850.

I'm going to drop off my car on Wednesday at one of DAS's major shipping terminals; did they quote you 21 days? That's the only thing that I didn't like about working with them.
Edit: I just called DAS and the person in Sales told me that I would get a $100 discount because there's a special going on for people shipping their cars from the West Coast to the East Coast. I did the terminal-to-terminal option. So if anyone is going to do the same, call them up, and ask about the deal; it's worth a try! Total cost, with Valuation charge = $707.
I'm feeling much more amenable about the 21-day shipping time now, haha.

Thanks for the info, guys. I, too, ended up going with DAS. I just dropped my car off at the terminal today... it's nice to know you were happy with their service, doctobee. It was more expensive for me since I chose expedited shipping, but I need my car asap and this way I'll get it in 12 days or less (or so they say).

NSight8 07-21-2005, 08:47 AM Hey whats up future classmates,
I am going to be going to DrexelMed in the fall with you all. I went to school in SUNY Albany and then did a year of research at Weill Cornell. I have been already at Drexel for a month or so doing a research rotation (for the MD/PhD program). I found a sweet place at Queen Lane Manor apts... even though its a half block from the school I am so lazy that I drive my car to and from campus every day :)
lookin' forward to orientation
PAPPAPPAP 07-21-2005, 12:06 PM What is everyone doing for alternative loans (private loans)? I got my award and Im about 10+ grand short. The Drexel website has this medloans alternative loans program and also has a citibank option. Also, if anyone has a better 3rd option id love to know. Thanks everyone.

Just my .02 advice on alternative loans: If you don't go with what drexel recommends in terms of the lender (medloans or citibank), you're going to have to keep on the tails of the finacial aid office. For some reason, they just have ten times more problems dealing with other lenders for no obvious reason. IF you know this ahead of time, you shouldn't have a problem at all. Just keep on them, get your paperwork in, double check its in, and just stop in every so often and ask, 'is all my stuff ok? is everything filled out that needs to be? do i need to do anything else? etc' I know a few classmates used T.H.E. loans because they have less fees, but didn't get their loan checks on time. Just keep on their tails, smile when you talk to Genesis even though you'd like to strangle her, and you should be fine!

I just went with Medloans because I had heard that the Drexel Fin Aid office always has problems with the other loan companies. I took out the full budget this year 'cause I wasn't sure, but hopefully I won't have to take the full amount out every year!
Another question...do you guys know how late we can get fitted on-campus for the white coat? I want to do it in person instead of filling out the form online, but I can't make it until Monday at the earliest. Do you know if that's too late to get it? They never specified a date.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in 12 ( ) days!

GO.
This is the primary way I met anyone in my class. This goes double for future PIL-ers, considering you never see them agian in school for the most part.
PKSrugby 07-22-2005, 06:26 PM Hey all! was just accepted off the waitlist into Drexel earlier this week! Applyin to the PIL program to see if I can get in that :D Was definitely sweating it when I didn't hear for so long, but now that i've gone and done the white coat fitting, etc. it feels like everything's actually falling into place. Can't wait to meet everyone!

Does anyone know when the last date for interview invites is for Drexel?
I really really would like to go there but I haven't heard anything back from them since receiving an "On Hold" letter from them a month ago. :scared: Is it too late for me to hope to get an interview there?
Or anyone else with February interviews that were accepted last year have any encouraging words?!:)
Thanks!
