Hi everyone. I searched for threads on FSU class of 2009 and found none so I decided to start one.

I'll be attending FSUCOM this year. Just wanted to get to know my future classmates if there are any in this forum. Will you be attending the early orientation scheduled for Friday April 9? Hope to see you there.

I am part of the FSU c/0 2009 and I will be at the early orientation on April 8th.
I graduated from the University of West Florida last August with a biology degree. I interviewed March 4th.

Where did you do undergrad, and when was your interview?

I graduated from USF in 2000 with a degree in Electrical Engineering but decided to pursue Medicine in 2002. I got an interview on November5th and loved it up there and accepted their invitation a few weeks later.

When do you plan on moving to Tallahassee? My husband and I moved here in December. It is nice to already be settled and not have to worry about moving right before school. I do feel sorry for the incoming students who will be graduating in April/May and then have to move right away (if they aren't already here)

By the way, I should be in town on Thursday April 7. If you or anyone else would like to meet that day just let me know. It would be nice to know someone by the time of the orientation.

Just a suggestion.

Hey, I'll be attending FSU COM, and I'm going to the early orientation next friday. I already attend FSU, so if anyone wants to meet up, PM me and we'll go get drunk somewhere.

No drinking here but we could certainly hang out.

Hey, my name is Stephen, proud to say I will be in your class this summer. I am also already in Tally-town (that's tallahasee, but no one in their right mind really calls it that, too pretentious I think). I work in the ER at TMH and one of the 1st years there told me about the thread. I also know 2 other people in our class that I am sure would like to meet on Thursday, and maybe drink (biscuit799), but mostly meet. I am very excited. I suggest Tia's Tex-Mex on Capital Circle NE, not too close to campus but should be easy enough for everyone to find. Open to other suggestions though. Let's get together,

Stephen

Apparently we're the smallest of the "Official c/o 2009" threads. I'm Ryan, and I currently attend FSU. I met a few of you at the Orientation last weekend. I wanted to know what you guys were planning on doing as far as housing goes. I'm still kind of up in the air as far as living by myself/with a roomate. Also I wanted to "bump" this thread in case anyone else doesn't know about it.

Just trying to get and understanding for the schools admissions. Web page is very limited. Thank you all.

While I'm fairly certain that FSU only accepts Florida residents, I did notice a fairly substantial number of students at the orientation who were from various places outside of Florida, but did their undergrad at a Florida school. The best tip I can give you is to call up their admissions office and ask what exactly their policy is regarding this topic.

I am one of those at the early orientation who is from somewhere other than Florida. I was born and raised (mostly) in Ohio. My parents moved to FL when I was 15. Then, right before my junior year of college, they moved back to Ohio. I stayed in Florida. My undergrad never asked (after I was first admitted) whether I was still a Florida resident, so I got to keep my Bright Futures Scholarship.

Anyway, I was technically still a dependent on my parents since they paid my health insurance. Lucky for me, I got married last August to a guy from New Jersey who had obtained Florida residency a year before we were married. So, I married into Florida residency (even though I have lived in Florida for 7 years) I had to send FSU copies of my husbands license, vehicle registration, and our marriage license to prove my residency.

My husband obtained Fl residency while in school. You just have to have a job, an apartment or house, a FL drivers license, voters registration, and your vehicle registered in FL (if it is in your name). Your parents also cannot claim you on their taxes. At UWF, where we did our undergrad, he had to have all of those things for 1 year and then he petitioned for residency.

I just realized that I told half of my life story in that previous post. Sorry...I am long-winded.
