well, the 1st year finally came to an end for us at IUSD. its hard to believe that a whole year has passed. i feel like it was only months ago when i was in this forum asking people where and when i should apply.

Dental school is getting better here, now that we're actually seeing patients, although on a somewhat limited basis, we’re not going to biochem lectures :thumbup: , so I’m a pretty happy camper.

what do you guys do this summer?
We are doing some more pre-clinical classes and stuff to get us ready for clinic next year. (anes, radiology) But it is a way kick back schedule. Nothing hard at all. We take boards second year, so don't have to worry about that for a while! No matter how you slice it though, being in school for the summer sucks!!!

i'm on summer break. that's right, we get three months off to relax before starting second year. don't be jealous.

We have a guy who has to repeat the year because he made a 69 average in a natural science course :ouch:

is 70 a pass?? also, he must have failed other courses, otherwise that would be just brutal on the school's behalf...

Yeah, a 70 is a pass. He told me he didnt fail any other courses and his overall average was a 82. now thats brutal

At unlv, you can fail (75 is a pass) three classes and still be in the game. But you have to make up those classes in the summer and are on academic probation. One more F and it's buh-bye. We have gone from 75 to 70 students. Various reasons of leaving, but most are grades. :(

same with us at IUSD. however, the school is pretty good with the student as far as remediating those courses. we havent lost anyone yet. there might be one person only who may be in danger of having to repeat the year.
