Restorative treatment of tooth structure affected by caries is just part of the management process.... Discuss..

Hey guys!

I have to do a short and concise essay on the following topic. About 600 - 800 words and we have no guild lines. Where do you think I should take it? What sort of things should I mention.. It’s such a broad topic and I don’t know where to begin or end! I am really stumped for ideas.. Honestly any help be greatly appreciated.

Thanks once again.. :)

I think they want you to go into the fact that restoring a tooth is not the end of your job...you need to educate the patient, provide oral hygiene instruction, maybe diet analysis, freqent recall, possibly fluoride rinses, chlorhexidine etc.... Basically, you have to take a multi-faceted treatment approach. If you are just filling teeth without doing your job to prevent it in the future you are not helping your patients as much as you could.
