I'm interested in locating to Atlanta or one of its suburbs after medical school.
What IM programs are there in the Atlanta area? I will probably specialize afterwards (maybe cardiology or oncology, not sure yet). I'm familiar with Emory, what else is out there, and where is it in Atlanta? Thanks.

Emory system has Grady Hospital in downtown Atlanta, Crawford Long in downtown Atlanta and Emory Hospital on campus. There is Piedmont Hospital. There is Northside Hospital. There is St. Joseph Hospital. These are all inside I-285 the expressway that circles Atlanta. There are others minutes outside of I-285, Kennestone, South Regional, North Fulton, and others.

Is it true that if you do the Emory program you have to rotate at all three hospitals? That seems like it might be a bit of a hassle, to live in one place, and manage 3 different commutes for different days. While I was at Emory, a lot of people complained about the hassle of getting around town, especially to the Grady hospital downtown.

While I was at Emory, a lot of people complained about the hassle of getting around town, especially to the Grady hospital downtown.
The complain is that Grady is the hospital for the people who cannot afford regular family physicians and is located in a tough area of town. It is the local government funded hospital. It will, on the other hand, expose you to every kind of patient and more situations than any other hospital in the Atlanta area. JMO
