i remember reading about depression and sometimes patients can't express how they feel or don't know how to word their feelings. anyone know the term for that? thanks, i can't seem to find the term anywhere.

Here's a link all about it... http://www.alexithymia.info/faq.html MedicinePowder 06-13-2005, 02:55 PM yea, that's the word that i was going nutz looking for. thanx. had an interesting patient present in my family medicine clerkship present with alexithymia. at the time, i was paralyzed as to how to proceed since usally patients tell you whats wrong. she spoke Spanish but she would point at her chest and say: i have this feeling, but i just don't know how to explain it. i questioned her for a while and she wasn't referring to physical pain. she did have a hx of depression. |
