View Full Version : What is the best residency, what about burnout and can I get in with these scores???? pimpdogg 06-22-2005, 04:18 PM Just kidding. Febrifuge 06-22-2005, 05:52 PM I believe the traditional response is: "Fatty McFattypants." ;) EM Junkie 06-22-2005, 07:41 PM In and Out Burger WilcoWorld 06-23-2005, 09:10 AM I read the thread title & thought, "This has gotta be a parody." P.S.: I love parody. docB 06-23-2005, 10:41 AM The best residency is the EM residency at the In-N-Out Burger at the corner of I-15 and Tropicana in Las Vegas. Check FRIEDA. No one in EM has ever burned out. Ever. It's just a myth. You can only get into an EM residency (any EM residency, not just In-N-Out Mr. Shoot-For-The-Stars) with perfect scores and grades. If you have ever missed a question in med school, on the boards or the MCAT or SAT give it up and look elsewhere. Once you have acheived perfection over you whole academic career and personal life you should seek to be anointed by God and become trancendent of the physical universe to be really competitive. Make sure you include reference to your omnipotence in you personal statement which should be cast in stone and delivered from the peak of Mt. Sinai (no more than one page). kungfufishing 06-23-2005, 12:12 PM The best residency is the EM residency at the In-N-Out Burger at the corner of I-15 and Tropicana in Las Vegas. Check FRIEDA. "off record" indecision while ordering In N Out is a red flag on your app nonetheless dchristismi 06-23-2005, 04:11 PM The best residency is the EM residency at the In-N-Out Burger at the corner of I-15 and Tropicana in Las Vegas. Check FRIEDA. docB is right, as usual... The program at In-N-Out was my #1 pick. Even with 260s on step 1 and step 2, AOA, 18 publications, and SLORs from the presidents of ACEP, AAEM, and SAEM, I didn't match there. Good luck buddy, you'll need it. ;) unk_fxn 06-23-2005, 04:15 PM The best residency is the EM residency at the In-N-Out Burger at the corner of I-15 and Tropicana in Las Vegas. Check FRIEDA. You forgot being able to lead climb at least a 5.11b. The serious applicant will have summitted several major peaks, and you should be ranked at least in the middle of your age group in a recognized endurance sport. docB 06-23-2005, 08:04 PM You forgot being able to lead climb at least a 5.11b. You'd be laughed out of the worst residency in the country. To be competitive you must have done a solo, free climb of El Cap, naked in January. southerndoc 06-23-2005, 08:53 PM We had one graduate who sailed in the World Cup... It makes me wonder how I landed a residency spot with my few accomplishments. :) edinOH 06-23-2005, 08:54 PM I knew a guy in medical school who definitely had his **** together...AOA, 260 both steps, 32 publications, NIH research funding, adopted Iraqi orphans, gave a kidney to a dying stranger. He rotated at In-and-Out as a fourth year. High Honors. (they created the category just for him). They said he would most likely be the best EP ever to grace the earth. Boy was he surprised when he ended up matching at Burger King! He's still bitter about the whole thing. southerndoc 06-23-2005, 09:03 PM I knew a guy in medical school who definitely had his **** together...AOA, 260 both steps, 32 publications, NIH research funding, adopted Iraqi orphans, gave a kidney to a dying stranger. I will be sure to visit this esteemed In-N-Out Burger EM Residency. I have an appointment to meet with their PD on Monday morning to go over my qualifications for their program. Wish me luck! Eme-RG-ency 06-29-2005, 03:40 PM The greatest attribute of the In-N-Out Residency is their ability to train em physicians to treat patients without removing them from their vehicle.
