Ive found very few searching through google, and most are GPR externships. What about stuff like perio, endo etc Thanks That's an interesting question. I haven't heard anyone around my school talk about doing anything like that. I bet you could just email/call the place you were interested in, tell them you really like endo/perio/ortho and are specifically interested in their program. Then ask if they would let you visit the program. I think many residents would love to have someone assisting. Same rules apply as with other exterships: you do need to know what you're doing. Example: Don't visit an ortho program and ask, "What's a fixed appliance?" Blue Tooth 06-28-2005, 05:17 PM yeah, contact the progams. I know the AAP website has a list of externships but you're better off contacting programs your interested in and setting something up. gumgardener2009 07-09-2005, 07:18 AM yeah, contact the progams. By the way, the AAP website is the American Academy of Periodontology (www.perio.org) for the uninitiated. There is a list of all the grad perio programs and which ones offer externships with a contact name. Externships are a great way to get your foot in the door. You get a feel for the program and they get a feel for you. I've done two externships and been offered an interview at each. 2 for 2. Not bad odds. gumgardener2009 07-09-2005, 07:24 AM By the way, the AAP website is the American Academy of Periodontology (www.perio.org) for the uninitiated. Before someone from OMS gets the chance, I'll say it. I probably have better odds to get a perio interview than Charlie Sheen has a chance to get laid at a party full of porn stars. |
