My program just rearranged itself, and now we have "issues." Namely, we thought there was a cap of 10 admissions per 24 hours by RRC rules, and by our program rules. I have tried navigating the site but with limited success.
The problem is we started a new hospitalist service, and with all their admissions, the house attending is having to give phone orders (and she ain't happy about it). The last order given by the PD was just do the admissions.
All I can find RRC crap (http://www.acgme.org/acWebsite/downloads/RRC_progReq/140pr703_u704.pdf) is first years can not be assigned more than 5 new patients and two in house transfers (out of the ICU, etc.) in an admitting day. They must also not be assigned more than 8 new patients in a 48 hour period. When supervising, a resident must not be responsible for supervision or admission of more than 10 new patients and 4 transfers in an admitting day, or more than 16 new patients in a 48 hour period. The 10 cap applies to night float, right?
Also, I found once and lost where the ACGME stated that we could not do more than 3 months of night float in three years, and then I found in the IM RRC that night float was limited to 4 months in 3 years. I would dearly love to get out of a month of night float this year, so if you know where the three month limit hangs about, can you let me know?
