Hey Fellow Residents,

My program is interested in receiving my input on how to enhance our OKAP preparation. I'd like to find out how your program helps you out aside from just buying you a set of BCSC books (i.e. lectures geared towards OKAPs, sending you to courses, resident study sessions, OKAP review book library, etc.). Also, if you have any advice on preparation (i.e. good books, study plans, etc.) I'd appreciate it. I saw the previous thread:

So I guess my question is sort of an extension from this.

Thanks in advance for your help!

At Iowa, there are Saturday lectures to help with OKAP review. Each year, the fellows also prepare an OKAP review in their particular area.

At Jules Stein, the residents read the BCSC and the residents meet with faculty every Wednesday evening for 2 hours. Food is provided, and the sessions are designed for OKAP preparation.

Our program has a 3 1 hour review sessions as a crash course in optics. We also had 1 hour cornea review session. That is all the formal prep provided by the program. Basically, you are just expected to do well. I think all of our residents use the Kanski text and the Chern review book and Chern questions for prep, and then various other question books.
