I have my sub-I in August from which I am expecting an IM letter of rec

I wanted to get a second letter in September and I have the options of doing:
Cardio or Renal Consult (might save for visiting rotations in october and november)

or I can do a month of outpatient IM at the academic faculty clinics

Does anyone know if doing an OP month is considered "slacking" or if the letters is automatically considered less substantial?

Thanks in advance for any input

I had another question too.

I am definitelty gonna get a rec from my IM sub-I. However, I got my best grade and eval in peds and think I can get a really solid letter (likely my best) from the Peds director. Obviously, I would have him direct it towards my suitability as an intern rather than peds.

Is that even acceptable? Would it be a waste of a letter?

it's totally acceptable -- in fact, it's a great idea and i totally recommend it to all. the letter will be VERY strong cuz it'll talk about what an awesome worker/intellectual you are, which is just as important! :D
