Sorry about post delay, first year ophtho is a little busy at the beginning :) . I did an externship at UCLA during my MS4 and all I have to say is be careful who you do your rotation with. This can make or brake your chances of matching there or getting a good LOR. For example, I would not recommend doing a retina elective; it is very hard to shine during that rotation. I'd stick to cornea, general ophtho or maybe glaucoma. Sorry I can't be more specific then that.
