Hi!
I matched for ophtho this yr(2nd time) I finished my transitional internship last month and waiting to start my ophtho residency next yr.
I initially applied to preresidency fellowships, research fellow positions and got couple of offers for this yr. The ones I got-they wanted me to sit behind a desk and help with organizing research papers by calling people, making sure all the research projects go smoothly.
I didn't accept any of them and currently enjoying this yr-vacationing in south america. I am feeling guilty. I am going to take step 3 this yr, but other than that is there anything I can do that's fun but at the same time gives me an opportunity to learn some ophtho (not research).
I have no prior knowledge/background in ophtho.
thanks

Why not work in a small community ER and make some money, pay off school loans, and maybe you'll get to see some patients that may come in with ocular problems!

I know someone else in a similar situation who worked in the ER for a year and made enough to pay off the whole school loan and have money left over for a decent car.

Just my 2 cents.
