Hi everyone, I'm trying to fill out the SF match app and had a couple of questions...

1. Under the activities section/honors/awards, should I provide explanations of what is listed or just list them...i.e. if I wanted to list Gross Anatomy TA, should I explain my responsibilities like preparing prosection, preparing examinations, etc. or just put down gross TA?

2. Under Ophthalmology electives and related activities, should I list the away rotations electives that I did or am going to do? I'm doing two away rotations in August and October and am wondering if I should list those even though I'm going to submit my app before I actually do them. Does listing away rotations hurt your chances at other programs?

Thanks everyone!

1. I had a brief explanation of most of my activities/honors/awards if they weren't already self explanatory. I also included dates of them too. But if you do this, make sure its readable, organized and in summary format and not too long winded.

2. I would list all related activities and anticipated ones (as long as you are 99.9% sure that you will follow through). If you end up not completing it and then are asked questions about said activity, it will be pretty embarassing to say you didn't follow through. It should not hurt your chances by listing them. If you dont, they will find out in another way such as you transcript, LORs or during the interview. They show dedication and interest. Make your application the strongest possible. Be prepared the answer the question: Why did you decide to pursue an away rotation at ______? Is that at the top of your list? I did the opposite and did no aways and people said to me, seems as though you are interested in staying at your home school.
