Can anyone recommend any great electives for a 4th year med student applying to ER residencies next year? I was considering a wilderness medicine or trauma surgery rotation? Any insight on the benefit of these clerkships would be appreciated.

A few i've heard tossed around are : toxicology, ultrasound, pediatric EM, trauma, ICU and of course..........ANYTHING YOU WANT....ITs FOURTH YEAR!!

I have done Radiology, Tox and ICU so far and enjoyed all of them. The latter two were incredibly practical and I have learned so much from them. They made me far more comfortable in areas I didn't know much. Ultimately, do what you enjoy :)
