So I'm applying to SCO this August and one of the personal essay topics is to list your extracirrucular activities, work-experience, etc. and then write about the two that were most meaningful to you. For all of you out there that have had an essay topic similar to this, how much cheese did you put into it. To me, SCO is just begging for something cheesy and insincere. How'd yall handle it?

They really seem to want well rounded students. If you have a lot of "cheese" to put into it, do it, but try to sound like you mean it. That was my top school and i didnt get in this year. I had great letters, essays, and my test score was good (from what i hear), but my gpa was in the dumps. so just lay it on them, but dont be too sappy.

I definately cheesed it up...but I am a girl and we can usually get away with it more. My advice, speak from your heart and say what you mean, not what you think they want to hear. If you really think about things you did and reflect on what was really important, the rest will follow.
Good luck

hey thanks sco1st/2ndyear. Glad to know that other people do actually blow a little smoke when writing essays.
