forgive my ignorance if this is not true
but can you practice medicine with in the military if you have not passed the USMLE
someone once told me that since its the Gov. u dont have to, its when you then become a civilian that if u want to continue to practice you have to have passed the USMLE

AFAIK, you can't start your internship until you have passed part 2. Once I knew a guy that didn't pass part 3. Everything he did had to be supervised until he passed the test. It was very humilitating. So the answer is no. You have to pass all 3 steps.

heh heh . . .

anyways, I knew a guy who failed step 1, but for some reason he was approved for step 2. He took annd passed step 2 and step 3, but when they realized he never passed step 1, he was forced to take the exam before he could be licensed.

It took him 3 tries!!! That just goes to show step 1 is usually the hardest to pass

interesting but my original question was this if one is in the military and graduates medical school and remains in the military and practices medicine only on military property does he or she need to be licensed ( by way of passing all steps of USMLE or COMLEX) i thought i herd somewhere that because it is the US gov. that u did not have too as long as you remained on military property(that they have their own set of rules) so i was wondering about that. Obviously if one wanted to practice outside of the military they would need USMLE 1,2,3 or COMLEX 1,2,3,
