My DAT is around the corner, and I'm just brushing up on things I havn't reviewed yet. I really don't know anything about Spectroscopy for the Organic Chemistry section, and I was hoping someone could help me out.

For IR, I think it's just a matter of memorizing numbers, not too bad.

But for H-NMR, I am totally lost. If you Know how to figure out singlets, doublets, septets, splitting, and all that, please let me know! Thanks

H-NMR counts the # of (different) Hydrogens on the C.
Singlet = there is no neighbouring H
Double = Has ONE H as neighbour
Triplet = Has TWO H as neighbours
Septets = Has SIX H as neighbours

Does this clear some confusion?
