Okay, I know this is a re-apply board, but I didn't see anywhere else that would be appropriate...

I'm hoping to start med school Fall 2007 (graduating Fall 2006, just took the MCATs today). When is the EARLIEST I can submit my primary AMCAS applications and what not? I want to literally have it in on that day since I know most schools have rolling admissions, I want to be in the front of the line.

Thanks

Oh also, does anyone know about schools that give a "GPA boost" to engineering majors as undergrads? I know Medical College of Georgia gives Georgia Tech engineers a 0.5 GPA boost since it's a difficult program, so it puts on on a level playing field with the easier science majors...just wondering what other schools do this.

The EARLIEST is around June 6, 2006. I say "around" because the date changes from year to year. The AMCAS website will post the primary at the beginning of May with a statement about the acceptance date.

As far as GPA boosts, until you mentioned MCG, I wasn't aware that any schools increased an applicant's GPA based on major.

For all other information about the application process, read the Introduction (see my signature).

Okay thanks. Yeah, MCG reps came to our AMSA chapter and told us they give GT engineer majors a 0.5 boost (I have a 3.27, but if I would have stayed in bio or chem, I seriously would be in the 3.80 area, so I think the boost is very nice...of course :p Of course I also realize there are engineer majors with 4.0's, but they're not human).

I doubt I'll get any sympathy from any out of state schools...so it may be MCG or bust for me, depending on yesterday's test results.
