View Full Version : Form AR people where you at?!?! shaggy411 08-20-2005, 09:12 PM What did you all think of it? section by section.. i was ill prepared.. :( ellgh1 08-20-2005, 11:40 PM finally ...i see a fellow AR. I dunno what to say about this test because what you may have thought to be easy, you probably were less careful hence stupid mistakes...but i was glad with all those chem questions in PS....in april all i had was physics!!! VR:I thought the passages were too long....my form in april seemed easier but this wasnt too bad. BIO:just dunno...it seemed more like VR in the sense one had to infer from the passage most often ayznshorti 08-21-2005, 12:02 PM Ha... i was super surprised at the lack of Physics questions in the PS section. And I could have done without two passages on titrations. The verbal section sucked, since it had two 10 question passages, but overall not horrible, just not good. Bio was actually not that bad, but i can see where there was a lot of potential for error. ubermu 08-21-2005, 12:20 PM Bio was actually not that bad, but i can see where there was a lot of potential for error. I felt physical sciences was easy, although original poster may be right, I could have mistakenly thought harder questions were easy. Verbal I was clueless, but that's normal for me, hopefully I got the main idea each time. Bio, man all those passages were horrible. It's exactly what I didn't want to see. I've decided they have something against ARs. frick 08-21-2005, 02:38 PM The PS was extremely easy, but PS is always my best section. Hopefully I didn't trip up on many questions as the curve is almost guaranteed to be unforgiving. Verbal was a mixed bag... although a lot of the passages seemed very readable to me (i.e., had a scientific slant rather than a literary one... the latter usually put me to sleep), they were *long*, and I ran out of time at the end forcing me to guess on the last question. This will probably result in my score being a point lower than my practice test average unless there's a nice curve (which is almost never the case with verbal). BS seemed easy to me, although I realized in retrospect that I missed two of the discretes because of little pieces of ochem minutae I couldn't recall. I was very surprised that there was only one ochem passage on the whole thing. My guess is that the curve will be similar to those for PT7 and PT8. Nooro 08-21-2005, 05:08 PM Man, you guys are killing me, I died in physical... and its usually my best section, I was scoring between 10's and 12's on practices and i'll be lucky to get an 8. I totally flipped because of the stupid passages that I spent way too much time reading like the stupid bubbles. Verbal I thought was straight, I actually had read one of the passages before, which was cool (the one on anesthesiologists its from "complications" a book) Biological was weird because I was SUPER happy for the lack of orgo, but I wish there was more physio less virus and bacteria stuff =T. overall... ehhh nothing special shaggy411 08-23-2005, 01:20 AM Man, you guys are killing me, I died in physical... and its usually my best section, I was scoring between 10's and 12's on practices and i'll be lucky to get an 8. I didn't like the fact that almost all the discretes in BS were o-chem..maybe i shouldn't complain since we were spared ochem passages except 1. ellgh1 08-23-2005, 06:22 AM i know there was a lot of gen chem in PS but this test can't be written off as being easy.....Nooro....don't worry maybe only that poster found it EASY.. I thought it was challenging. And I also thought the same about one or two of the Orgo discretes. Did anyone else feel the same way? Also, are the exams normalized by form or what? nassir 04-23-2006, 02:05 PM What did you guys think about that one Orgo passage? I thought it was challenging. And I also thought the same about one or two of the Orgo discretes. Did anyone else feel the same way? Also, are the exams normalized by form or what? Organic chemistry is my life, literally (I took advanced organic chem bc I enjoy it so much and have been teaching it for a yr) and the experiment on substiution rxns/enantiomer sep I thought was rather difficult for an MCAT exam. It was poorly written and the fact that none of the compounds were drawn made it even more challenging. I usually spend 3-4 min on organic passages; this one I know I spent at least 10 min on. However, the other passage with the synthesis of the two alpha/beta sugars was pretty straight forward. just had to remember the diff btw diast/enant and it was easy if you took organic lab. I was real happy the organic was all at the end. for me it was like a treat! :) But the developmental bio/embryology passage was SUPER DIFFICULT---i felt like you had to have a phd in embryology to get some of the answers. also, the insect passage was pretty hard. i just guessed on most of the qs. hopster 04-23-2006, 02:25 PM i was beginning to think i was the only AR. I thought verbal was pretty horrible. But then again, whenever it seems really hard I end up doing well and when i think i know all the answers i ended up getting tricked on all of them. I thought bio was a bit tricky. For some reason I could not understand that immunoprecipitation passage, but in hindsight it makes perfect sense. I feel like that whole test was a blur. PS was not TOO bad, it def had some tricky questions, especially that one with a light source, 2 lenses, 1 prism, and a photographic plate. Talk about intimidating. whatever, we'll find out in 2 months. kevin86 04-23-2006, 02:41 PM yeah what was the anwser to broad the things, was it lower and raise index of refraction and what was the mirror under water thing hopster 04-23-2006, 02:43 PM i wish i knew... lol, sorry EddieIndy 04-25-2006, 05:24 PM Finally I found the AR thread (on the 3rd page :) ). Right after the test I felt horrible about every section except for PS. I feel that PS was what I expected it to be. Verbal seemed like the hardest test I have ever taken. For the first time in a while I was running out of time and struggling to finish the section, and ended up having educated guesses on most of the easy-looking monuments and memorials passage. BS was very intimidating. Especially the stand-alone questions, they were terrible and almost crashed my confidence, but I kept going. So after the test I felt like shooting myself... But after talking to a few people and going over the test endless times in my mind, I figured that I actually did pretty well on PS, and as well as usually do on BS. Verbal is another story, I still feel that the test was hard :( We'll wait and see, 57 days to go... nassir 04-25-2006, 08:06 PM I agree with you. Verbal was by far the most challenging part of the exam. I thought it was much more difficult than any AAMC exam or Examcrackers. Especially the stupid agriculture 10 Q passage. I probably got all 10 questions wrong. The time I spent on that passage I wish I used elsewhere. Oh well, there's no sense in living in the past. I guess we just pray for a phenomenal curve and wait...Good to know though that others felt it was challenging. lovesm3s 04-26-2006, 11:25 PM i agree with the stupid agriculture passage. after I read it I was like crap i can't remember anything. I had trouble referencing back for some questions. that particular passage made me lose my momentum :(. I was doing fine on the other passages. hopefully I guessed well lol hopster 04-27-2006, 04:47 PM thank god everyone is in agreement about that agriculture passage. I thought I was retarded or something. Stupid treehuggin hippies... |
