View Full Version : CG Form?
steffbyrne 08-20-2005, 09:38 PM Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone had the CG form? I found the PS hard but the VR very very hard. I guess I lost concentration through it - but I gave up. The afternoon was better, but I guessed at all the organic questions....oh dear - anyone know when we'll find out our scores???
:)

yep yep! i had CG... i really don't know what to think.. but i was definitely really nervous during the physical science section.. i found the last physics passage to be really hard.... verbal.. its always hard.. bio.. ahh.. don't know.. hpoefully it'll be ok .
gotgame83 08-21-2005, 07:15 AM I had form CG.
Well I finished PS fairly confident but not that i have had over 12 hours to think about it i guessed on quite a bit. Although i did finish on time which was a plus. And that last passage was umm interesting. I made some educated guesses on that one and i just treated it like a standing wave.
Verbal- It wasnt the hardest verbal i had ever seem but some of the questions were very difficult. I would be happy if i got an 8 on this section.
BS- Almost no orgo, and the orgo that was there was fairly easy. That first passage was rough. LOTS of detailed reading comprehension, and that crazy balloon apparatus has to go lol
Hey guys,
oh dear - anyone know when we'll find out our scores???
:)
Around October 13th. Hope it's not a Friday.
POnuts 08-21-2005, 09:30 AM Bio sucked..I didn't know I had to take 2 verbals in a row

Thats sure what it felt like. It seemed to be all about critical reading and guessing. Hey guys. Im pretty sure that all the forms starting with the letter C are the same but then i see a few posts were they mention different questions. Could it be that all the C forms have the same graded questions but different experiment questions? I dont know but i hate everyone who has a C form and said verbal was easy.
lanzarlaluna 08-21-2005, 11:06 AM Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the second letter indicates the form, not the first. People with AG, BG, CG, etc. all had the same test, just with everything in a different order.
gotgame83 08-21-2005, 11:14 AM Is that right? Because it seems like almost all the posts regarding C forms seem to be on par but then a few of them are different. Like one of of the C forms said they had lots of orgo. Im going to have to skim through the posts now to see if that is right.
gotgame83 08-21-2005, 11:44 AM Based on what i have read on the forums. It seems like MOST of the C forms are the same however i did read a few which seemed to show otherwise.
SensesFail 08-21-2005, 12:54 PM I dont know but i hate everyone who has a C form and said verbal was easy.
Haha, me too.
I just did really bad on that VR. I mean, I guessed about 10 questions because of time, but in reality I guessed about another 10 on top of that, just because I couldn't understand the passages. So, basically, I'm looking at a 40/60 MAX, assuming I got all those 40 right, which is highly unlikely. Dammit!!! Hope to God that some of those "C" guesses were right and that the experimental passage accounts for something. :(
ahhh123 08-21-2005, 05:51 PM Haha, me too.

seriously.. now that i have a day to think about it.. i can't help but think that i performed really poorly .. ohh gosh..that balloon and stuff.. darn.... ahhhh ...

Are you talking about the balloon apparatus with the flasks/buret/glass beads on the PS section? I was freaking out when I got to that passage. I had no clue what the heck it did, I think I guessed on all those questions.
NUKid 08-21-2005, 07:01 PM Haha, me too.

And unfortunately with the experimental it could be out of 55 which sucks

yeh that and the one about the e field and and waves... arghh arghhhh.. i hioep that one is experimental
UNC-or-BUST 08-21-2005, 07:53 PM i had form CP, w/ the balloon thing........ i was like WTF, i couldn't even read the questions.... the inelastic collision one, [edit]....
VR wasn't bad, 1-40, the last twenty, damm.... not enough time and that 10 question section on relationships....
BS haha, if you had the cellular lung development question... what a way to start a section.
some orgo, all of it was really abstract
gotgame83 08-21-2005, 09:23 PM i had form CP, w/ the balloon thing........ i was like WTF, i couldn't even read the questions.... the inelastic collision one, find the arctan....

umm i dont remember having to find the [edit]. If i remember correct a chart was given, [edit]. If you had to calculate the [edit] then im screwed.
KLH91584 08-21-2005, 09:55 PM I thought the PS stand-alone questions were pretty doable. The passages...overall not too bad I didn't think. Yeah, there were a couple of the physics ones that I had no clue how to do really. Compared to some diags I had taken, it wasn't the hardest PS section I had come across, I think in part due to the greater amount of gen chem compared to physics passages.
Verbal, it's always pretty hard for me to tell how I did. Didn't necessarily think it was harder/easier than other ones, but who knows.
Biological Sciences...I was really disappointed with this one. I mean, what a way to start off the section with question #1...I had to read that passage like 3 times to even understand it. It seemed like it was all relying on reading comprehension and I could've gotten away without knowing much biology at all. I sort of feel like I have all this information stored in my brain now and I'm begging to get tested on it still.
Jon Davis 08-21-2005, 10:25 PM umm i dont remember having to....
I figured you used the same angle b/c it doesnt matter which was heavier. Same two in the collision.
simoney 08-22-2005, 07:47 AM I had form CG...all in all, I felt like I studied for the wrong test. The verbal section was ridiculous. BS was really one-sided. PS...

Its really reassuring to hear comments like this. Reason being is because here on SDN we seem to represent the minority who are extremely prepared, study hard and discuss all possible tactics to do well. I noticed at my testing site that most of my friends had never scored above a 24 on their practice tests and many of them didnt study very much. So getting to my point, I think here at SDN we represent the better half of test takers, so if we found it to be challenging then hopefully many other people who are not on SDN found it to be even more difficult. I dont know if that makes sense at all but i like my reasoning and I will stick to this until scores come out.

aaahhh, yeah it did. First they didn't give... [edit] hypothetically, if you have two cups moving toward each other at a right angle and same mass and same speed the angle after an inelastic collision should be 45 to either axis. But lets say you ut coffee, mmmm coffee, in one so its mass is 3 times that of the original, then same speed the two cups hit at right angles the more mass cup will force the collision more in its direction, small angle to its direction. Using [edit] A calculation wasn't 100% needed but i remember [edit]Did this form have a question about [edit]
gotgame83 08-22-2005, 07:56 AM aaahhh, yeah it did.
Yes there were to close answers to the mometum problem, i picked [edit]. I forget what my reasoning was lol. As for the SHM particle one I said [edit], i didnt have much concrete support for this so i thought that was most logical and i moved on.
gotgame83 08-23-2005, 10:18 AM Bump up for all my CG brethren

that pretty much sums it up for me.
me during the bs section:
question 1: which of the following would contradict hypothesis #2...
question 2: what conclusion can you draw from scientist one's experiment...
.
.
.
.
question 33: ............insulin.......... yeas, something i actually could have studied for!!!!!
Jon Davis 08-23-2005, 11:18 AM aaahhh, yeah it did.
I see what you're sayin now. [edit]. In that case, I'm wrong. [edit]. You could probably guesstimate the answer.
I was so hazy and drowsy that morning during the PS. I didnt sleep much at all and I got depressed writing the exam cause the PS was hard. I got screwed royally. I got an 7 now, not a 8. :(

plz let what you just said be true...but its hard to convince myself that everyone out there are less prepared... i don't know..i feel like everyone is just soo good at it... and the curve's gonna suck or something..
gosh .... i dreamt about the mcat 2 nites in a roll.... ahh nightmares... mcat never ends.
gotgame83 08-23-2005, 02:57 PM haha. I dreamt about it saturday nite and sunday night. Sunday night was horrible, i dreamt that i didnt really take the test on saturday and it was just a dream and in my dream i woke up and it was saturday morning and i was late and i had to go take the test.
I do think that is true though about us on here being mostly the better half. I was kind of nervous going into the test but then talking to so many people there and they didnt put in 1/10th of the effort I did and how i can name only a few people who had even scored above a 25 on a practice test. Im sure they are thousands of people who are not part of SDN who owned the mcat however I just seems that on here we are extremely prepared and we are here because we want to be the best. Again this is based on no facts at all but this is just my observations from talking with my friends online and with my friends who teach for kaplan, so whether or not im completely dilusional or not i dont care, i like this mentality and i will stick to it until scores come out lol
gotgame83 08-23-2005, 03:03 PM ok i just posted and it didnt bump itself to the top. that makes me mad so im posting again with hopefully the desired outcome this time...

Well said dude. I think this explains exactly why alot of SDNers are pleasently surprised every MCAT administration. I suppose our "bombs" aren't as catastrophic as they seem. However, another mentality is the same old "I'll believe it when I see it". These two forces are the ones that we battle with in our minds until the score comes out. Do I sound philosphical? haha
gozeemer 08-23-2005, 09:22 PM First off hello SDN! Form CG...hmm..lol..I thought I was EXTREMELY PREPARED FOR THIS TEST
I'm really glad that Im not the only one who thought this form was difficult, especially the PS and VR.
Physical Sciences:
Free standing--Fair
Passages-There were I thought 2-4 challenging passages I can't remember how many. But for all of you, remember you are scared of 2 passages maybe 3. Most people are terrified of all of them. So I think all of us here scored a 10+.
Verbal Reasoning:
Where can I buy myself a RoboTuna. Thats one hell of a pet.
I liked having 2 10 question passages lol that was nice (pssh ya right).
I found myself having to make a lot of educated guesses, there werent that many clear cut answers, however I could just be an idiot. I went in this section hoping for a 9 or 10, but now I just want an 8 lol.
Biological Sciences:
Heres the kicker, I have a Masters in Physiology, so I can give you a fair assesment. The orgo in general was as is expected, pointless reactions and stereochem, whatever, hope I got those right. As for the first passage, that is all embyology at the medical school level, I took medical school embryology and STILL found that as the most difficult passage overall. shh, hip1, and FGF10 are all complex mechanisms; and for your information that passage I guess did have enough information; however without a good understanding of embryo, I can't see that passage being fair, unless you had a lot of time, Im thinking it was experimental?
Overall the physiology/cell/biochem/micro was ok for me since of my background, but I can DEFINITELY see that being difficult for many people.
Overall, from everyones comments, I think you all did really well, 30+ and at least a 40 for the arc tan guy hehe:) Hope to talk to you all soon!
PS Princeton Review Sucks I should have just studied on my own!

haha its weird how everyone only remembers Robotuna.. i thought democracy was the other hard one.. surprised that no one is talking about that one...
but hopefully you're right that everyone on here will get a 30+
gozeemer 08-23-2005, 09:53 PM Duh of coarse we dont remember it, I dont know what the the hell I read!!! :D

hahah true true.. i whole heartedly agree.. haha
gotgame83 08-24-2005, 09:03 PM something about energy being lost in relation to the wavelength. I wont get into anymore details because i dont feel like being edited and for the fact that i dont remember it anymore lol
potteaj 08-24-2005, 09:06 PM did you think f would change
SensesFail 08-25-2005, 09:38 AM A relationship between lambda(max) and T(in K) from a table of data. Ring a bell anybody? I'm pretty sure I got it wrong.
gotgame83 08-25-2005, 10:18 AM yea i guessed on that one lol. I figured i didnt know it off the top of my head and it would take too long to figure out so i just picked an answer and moved on.
thesmartazz 08-25-2005, 11:15 PM yea i guessed on that one lol. I figured i didnt know it off the top of my head and it would take too long to figure out so i just picked an answer and moved on.
Well, without talking about the problem's specifics and getting edited, I think this problem either required you to know Wein's Law from outside knowledge (the relationship between wavelength and temperature of a blackbody radiator):
http://www.amastro.org/at/ph/phwl.html
*or* required some deduction with those silly tables that they provided.
I was most annoyed with the optics passage since I completely read one of the equations wrong and was using the wrong wavelength... Gah.
