I am currently a junior in Stonybrook University in New York and have taken most of the prereqs to veterinarian school... but does anyone know of where i can take "animal nutrition " courses in New york City? I want to apply to University of Florida or Tufts University for their vet schools... but UF requires animal nutrition course to be taken first... Would a 3.2 GPA get you into vet school?
On a separate note, my guidance counselor at school does not know a thing about going to vet school, i have basically researched my way through... I must have missed out on important preparations. So far i have spent one summer volunteering with 2 veterinarians at a small clinic for dogs and cats. Took 90% of the pre req courses. What else should i be doing? What about the GRE ... SHould i have been practicing witht hat already? what else what else? what do i have to make sure of? PLease help guide me ~~ :(

hi!
if you can't find a place in nyc, kansas state and oklahoma state offer correspondence
courses...
kansas state university:
https://apps.dce.ksu.edu/CreditReg/CourseSearch/search.html
search for ASI 318.
oklahoma state university might be another option:
http://ueied.ue.okstate.edu/ics/colcred.asp
click on ansi 3543.
as for the rest, your schools of choice may post statistics on gpa and gre scores - texas
a&m does for sure. sounds like you got the req's nailed - GPA, GRE, experience. oh,
lots of people talk about diversity in experience. i worked at a wildlife rescue, an
emergency hospital, shelters, rural area veterinary services, and private practice.
many people do equine work, too. some work with birds or exotics.
best wishes...
