how hard is it to get into specialties like ortho or endo? what percentage of students from a class go on to specialize? I know it is variable for every school, every class, etc. but speaking in average terms..

Our ortho program in San Antonio gets around 150-200 applications for three spots. And we aren't even close to the most competitive ortho program. Endo is the same way. Study hard.

...and lifestyle. If you want to do Endo or Ortho you should go ahead and practice walking on water.

I once saw Oral Surgery Attending threaten to kick out an OMFS resident during a mod. radical neck because he didn't know his anatomy... the quote was.....

"I'll call over to the endo department and get you a spot in their residency, cause the only bloody F*$King nerve you need to know about there is the pulp!!!!!" :meanie:

hehehehehehehehe.
