I wore a blazer over a mock turtle neck sweater for dental school interviews. Most will wear a suit...I'm not sure of the sweather over the shirt n' tie...just go with the shirt n' tie if you want to do that. I interviewed with a guy who wore a plaid shirt with no tie....he ended up at case western...need I say more.

If you have a suit, wear it. Of course, if you wanted to go in wearing a wife-beater and gold chains you're welcome to, but I wouldn't advise it. If you are serious about the spot I think how you dress reflects that. Especially when most other people will be wearing a suit, I think it's the most appropriate. Unless you can't for financial reasons, I'd wear the suit IMO.

It might not be right, but my first impression of you will be how you're dressed. First impression goes a long way. If you're going to go that route, you'll stick out from the crowd.

So is it better stick out from the crowd in this respect?

Wearing a clown suit will make you stick out from the crowd, why not wear that?

I'll stick with my standard code of dress:

For women: bikinis
For men: suits and those hats with propellers on top

What are you interviewing for? OMFS interviews are fairly regimented in apparel for the interview.

Wear a conservative suit and conservative shoes. If you have to buy a new one, do it. People respond better to people that don't stick out in most instances. Conservative suit and tie is the best way. It is better to appear more professional when you are applying for a professional position, and it is better to be overdressed than underdressed.

I say wear those helmets with the two beer cans on top, a stained football jersey of your favorite team and an old pair of tighty-whities. That will get you the job for sure.
