I recall Mike talking about his wife being an RN and working over in Ireland. My boyfriend is planning on doing paramedic school in Canada, and I was wondering if anyone had ever heard of a north american paramedic working over there?
We are considering it as an option if I get into med school in Ireland.
Any insight would be appreciated!!!

Hey Cans.

The paramedic program is VERY different in the UK. My understandingis it is a 4 year degree and yet is much less autonmous. (and the pay sucks badly.) I cant tell you if the canadian training (i was a P2 in canada before i became an RN) would transfer, but i suspect it wouldnt. As a nurse i have to write an exam over there and then im in. The differences is the major shortage in nurses as opposed to little shortage in paramedicine.

Might want to contact them and see as im not really sure.

Thanks for the insight Mike! I am just in the process of applying now so I guess I will worry about getting in first before other things.
