Ok, here is a dumb question. When I am at the hospital, I see drs. in green. What color to DPMs wear?

What do you mean green? Their scrubs? And is it only in one hospital or many?

I heard of some hospitals going to systems where certain professions wear certain color scrubs.

DPMs are forced to wear florescent pink scrubs with snoopy slippers. I think it is federally mandated. All other doctors wear green.

technicians, nurses, doctors, etc. usually wear the same color scrubs in the hospital. I have never in my life seen doctors were different scrubs unless they have their scrubs specially made with their name and department. Where did you hear such a thing?

I have seen this before...I dont see how this is a dumb question. Also every profession (disipline) does have a color designated to them. I guess that gets transfered to their scrub color. Most places dont even do this sort of thing from what I observed. But I agree....this question is very irrelevant to much of everything.

Im not sure I know what you mean when you say that every discipline is designated a color. A color for what? Identification? It would seem that there are more sophisticated methods of distinguishing different specialties within a hospital than by assigning a color. As far as I have seen, the doctor who goes in the OR uses whatever color scrubs that happens to be sterile and at the top of the pile. Is it different where you have worked/observed?

It's interesting that you're a pharmacy tech, want to be a dentist or podiatrist (big difference), yet you go around calling yourself PharmDr. You're not a PharmD and you're most definitely NOT any kind of doctor right now. Isn't your nick misleading? :thumbdown

Can I not be fascinated by both fields? I still have a little while to decide so im leaving it at that. About my sn...I originally wanted to get my PharmD. when I was a freshman. I dont want to use another sn because I have had this one for a while now and people know me by it and my past. Podiatry is not on the list...but medicine uses the color hunter green.

Our robes were designated with hunter green, your university color is in your hood.

These are colors for academics, not clinically relevant in the hospital.

Some hospitals may issue different scrub colors for departments, ie. black for radiology, blue for ER, pink for OB, green for OR, but physicians all wear the same color (or whatever they want to wear!!)
