How long did your school give you to prepare for the Boards?
Was it enough? If not, how much longer would you have wanted?
Thanks!

If not, how much longer would you have wanted? Thanks! Long Dong 09-21-2005, 06:53 PM 8 weeks, if they gave me more time of course I would have used it. cremasteric 09-21-2005, 06:58 PM 8 weeks, but the vast majority took it between 4.5-5.5 weeks. I thought 5.5 weeks was perfect - not so long that I lost my focus, but not so short that I felt like I had to cut out some studying. 8 weeks, if they gave me more time of course I would have used it. j-snake 09-21-2005, 08:19 PM We had five weeks off between second and third year. Most students study for about three weeks before taking the exam. They still tend to do pretty well, though not quite SDN average. saco 09-21-2005, 10:09 PM about 6 weeks - more than enough DOCTORSAIB 09-24-2005, 10:26 AM How long did your school give you to prepare for the Boards? Was it enough? If not, how much longer would you have wanted? Thanks! We may only get 2 weeks. The COMLEX is becoming computerized this year and is offered at the end of May for 3-4 days and then again starting June 12th. Well, that would be nice only if school didn't end mid-May and rotations didn't start ON June 12th! lattimer13 09-24-2005, 02:36 PM 7 weeks or so. superdood 09-24-2005, 03:33 PM school offered us 4 weeks but i took 3 funkless 12-08-2005, 05:50 PM A little less than four. lizzylu 12-11-2005, 12:05 AM damn...our school gives us 5 for boards and your 'vacation' --that's just not enough time! missbonnie 12-12-2005, 05:19 PM At P&S, 6 weeks. My plan is to take 4, and take 2 for vacation. 3rd yr starts on my bday :( bonnie NRAI2001 12-12-2005, 05:26 PM Is it possible to take more? Like lets say 8 weeks, if you really wanted a great score? chintu 01-02-2006, 10:54 PM My school gives 8 at the most. Most take 6 wks and a 2 wk vacation. I think I am going to take a 2 wk vacation right after classes end and then take 5.5 wks to study. Saint Louis University SOM MSII alimarie81 01-04-2006, 03:23 PM We may only get 2 weeks. The COMLEX is becoming computerized this year and is offered at the end of May for 3-4 days and then again starting June 12th. Well, that would be nice only if school didn't end mid-May and rotations didn't start ON June 12th! CCOM is doing the same thing, except I think we are getting 3 weeks. They are moving our final exams up one week to "grant us" another week of studying before boards. Rogue_Leader 01-04-2006, 03:36 PM At BU we get 6 weeks off between the end of 2nd year and the beginning of clerkships, but after spring break they stop scheduling classes after 12:00. efex101 01-04-2006, 05:16 PM Mayo gives you six weeks for studying and any vacation time you might need... quideam 01-04-2006, 07:27 PM Cornell gives you seven and a half weeks.... i'm not sure how much of that time i'm going to take to study for the boards, probably about 5-6 weeks. beastmaster 01-04-2006, 10:25 PM Well, that would be nice only if school didn't end mid-May and rotations didn't start ON June 12th!Don't they start, traditionally, in July? DOCTORSAIB 01-05-2006, 01:25 AM Don't they start, traditionally, in July? At other schools, yes. Rotations usually start either in July or August. At PCOM, no. June 12th remains the 1st day of rotations. I'm registered to take the COMLEX May 30th and the USMLE Step 1 on June 9th. So much for taking a vacation after boards! Tiki 01-05-2006, 05:49 AM I get about seven weeks. I'm going to take about five weeks and then take a nice relaxing two week vacation. efex101 01-05-2006, 06:42 AM I am jealous...with six weeks there is not much vacation to be taken...sucks. |
