View Full Version : Prometric Test Center
Stanford Fencer 09-27-2005, 06:12 PM Anyone had a bad experience with one of these test centers?
I'm signed up to take the NBDE 1 at a pretty random test center (San Jose, CA). Shot in the dark but if anyone here has taken an exam at this center, please let me know how things went.
Thanks a lot!

Hey Stan! That's where I took mine. It's a pretty nice place, pretty random too. It has a bunch of cubicles with computers at each one and a camera watching every move you make. I think it's pretty standard though. The people working there seemed nice. One bit of advice, scout out the location before the day of the exam, it's not in a very visible location and is a little tough to find. Good Luck! I'm sure you'll kill it!
Stanford Fencer 09-29-2005, 03:59 PM You've just made my day buddy. I was worried about the relatively random location, but they had the best time available for my exam. I owe you a drink after the exam

Good luck on the exam my friend! Get 'em 90s! How's research going? Did you go to Boston last week for the AAOMS conference and present?

No worries. Good luck!
Stanford Fencer 09-30-2005, 04:34 PM Hey Andy badass
I've wanted to go to AAOMS but never had quite the right research to showcase there. I'm a bit bummed. I did have fun at the ADA national competition last Oct. in Orlando, and gave a talk in Greece back in may at an international oral cancer congress. Next month, I'm preseting work at the American Association of Cancer Research. But I gotta tell you, there's nothing I'd wish more than getting a shot in presenting at AAOMS.
Maybe I want to be a co-author with gbdental up here on his new project :meanie:
Hey Andy, good luck with this very exciting phase that you're going through. How nice I get to watch YOU go through this one year ahead of me :D

ooh...sj~ :( well...let me tell you about my experience at the sj testing center. when i took part I, i also chose sj b/c they had the most ideal time slot for me. however, i did not have a very good experience there and regret not taking the exam at the sf center where everyone else seemed to have a good experience at (ask mike).
why was it bad for me? the center was not well ventillated, so it was a bit stuffy and hot with all the computers running in this little room. plus, there was a guy with really strong b.o. sitting a couple of cubicles away that added to the unpleasantness. :barf:
ok...that sums up the environmental discomfort which certainly takes away from your concentration and endurance during the test. furthermore, i did not find the test proctors to be very nice.
all in all, i did not enjoy my experience there. toward the end of the exam all i wanted to do was to speed through the test as quickly as possible b/c i couldn't stand sitting in that room anymore.
it may be that the a/c was broken that day...it could be that the proctors that day were pms'ing...i dunno...maybe there have been improvements since a year ago. but i just wanted to let you know what my experience was like...
best of luck~ :luck: i know you'll do great no matter where you take the exam!

I guess I lucked out when I took it at San Jose then. No smelly pits in the area when I was testing! The people that worked there seemed cordial to me, so maybe they were in fact having a bad day before. Who knows? Don't worry yourself about it man! Just go in there, take the exam, ignore what's going on around you (you should be worried about something else anyways!), and go celebrate when you're done. -GB
