I received my acceptance from UQ a couple days ago and in the acceptance package is a form asking whether I would like to spend time in Year 1 in either the Southern Clinical Division (Princess Alexandria Hospital) or the Central Clinical Division (Royal Brisbane Hospital).

Can anyone who has gone through Year 1 and/or spent time at the clinical divisions give me advice on which one I should choose as my preference? Something really important for me is the proximity to the St. Lucia campus as I understand I will be spending most of Year 1 there. Since I will be taking the bus to/from the St. Lucia campus, home (which I am trying to have near St. Lucia) and the clinical division, I'd like to go to the hospital closest to St. Lucia all else being equal.

Many first year students live either in St. Lucia or just across the river.

To minimise effort, I'd recommend southern for you, since the Princess Alexandra Hospital is a short ferry ride across the river + a 10 min walk from St. Lucia. If you live on the same side of the river as, but not in, St Lucia, then it may not be as convenient, since you'd have to take either two buses or a bus + a ferry + walk to PAH, versus two buses to the Royal Brisbane Hospital if you were Central.

Either way, many ppl share rides, take buses, and ride bikes from all over, but particularly Toowong and Indooroopilly.
