View Full Version : California girls doing OMM residencies = clueless

From personal experience and the experience of others it seems the people doing OMM residencies don't seem to have a clue. Specifically it seems like chicks doing OMM residencies from any of the two the California DO schools don't know what's going on. For example, in my OMM lab, there's this girl from Western who's doing an OMM residency at a local hospital near my school and I guess one of her responsibilities is to be one of the TA's in our weekly labs. A couple of weeks ago my OMM partner and I asked her a question about an OMM technique on the upper extremity, she said something to the effect of 'Oh, different schools say different things. That's the thing about OMM, you'll get different answers from different people.' And then she had me lay down and she proceeded to do the pedal pump lymphatic technique on me (the simplest OMM technique known to man and keep in mind, this was an Upper Extremity lab!) trying to act like she knew something.

My brother agrees with my assessment. He's the chief resident at his program and he says the two OMM residents at his hospital (they're from TUCOM) are both really 'weak' (in other words they s*ck).

Anybody else have similar experiences with OMM residents in general and maybe female OMM residents from the Cali schools?

ps- I'd like to mention that this girl from Western, although clueless, was pretty hot. So although her medical knowledge may be lacking, she's quite a pleasure to look at.

if you want to know about OMM residents -- then you should ask about them -- and not give us some silly description of some resident ta who you obviously think you know more than here-- and describe her as hot and good to look at ...

that basically makes you like you are arrogant and sexist.

I know medical school is difficult and can make us all feel really dumb sometimes -- sometimes in order to make ourselves feel less dumb -- we look around and try to find someone we think is dumber-- and complain about that person. becareful -- when and if you get in her position -- you may be suprised at how little "book knowledge" you remember because it has all been replaced with real experience. and maybe a first or second year med student will post on SDN about you.
