I believe a CT renal stone protocol is done WITHOUT contrast. If given a choice between CT renal stone protocol without contrast and #2, I'd choose the former. CTs evaluating for kidney stones are without contrast--too difficult to see the stone with contrast present. I agree with phatfarm...
