Excuse my ignorance but I have a question for the experts lurking around here...

I'm dual applying in Radiology and IM this year and just recently submitted my IM apps on 10/31 having checked both prelim and categorical boxes. I've also got a few Transitional apps in as well and have received invites to interview for all 3 types of programs so far.

My question is: Can I assume I am interviewing for both a Categorical and prelim position at the IM programs (since I checked both boxes)?
ie can I interview at an IM program for a Categorical position and then end up ranking it as a prelim? Or do I need to call each program to clarify?
