Kaplan IM (Dr. Conrad Fischer) states S.aureus is still more common cause of osteo in sickle cell pt., while USMLE World makes a big point that it's Salmonella.
What's the truth on Step 2?

If you have a sickle patient (or an asplenic?) who gets osteo, its salmonella. If you have a non-sickle patient, its Staph.


If they go to the trouble to mention SS osteo, you should expect Salmonella.
