Does anybody know if program directors will look at step 2 scores before offering interviews or ranking? I'm taking it in 2 weeks, and I was just curious?

Seawolf 11-03-2005, 09:02 PM I have the same question also....I took Step II about a week ago, and interviews invites have been slow....so just wondering if the programs are just waiting for my step II scores to come back......any thoughts? Fermi 11-04-2005, 09:49 AM There's a thread going on in the General Residency forum about many programs requiring Step 2 CK and/or CS in order to RANK you. I've not seen this on any medicine program website, except perhaps U of Chicago. I know all residencies require you to pass Step 2 before you start, but are there any other medicine programs that require it to be ranked? ucladukes 11-04-2005, 10:30 AM I've heard that if they still haven't made a decision on your app, they want your Step II as it becomes available, just as another bit of info. But if you scored lower than your step I (which I think happens to very few people), then it looks bad and could be grounds for a rejection. If you are one of those people riding a 240+ on step I, I don't think it matters at all. I can tell you from my experience, the best decision I made was taking Step II in July and having the score in hand when I applied (my step I was very mediocre) and I can say that it opened quite a few doors that probably would have been closed otherwise. |
