i am doing my FM rotation in an outpatient clinic. i am looking for a small concise (fits in my pocket) book that will hit on the major things i need to be aware of for common outpatient problem. don't need pathophys, etc. for ex, if i am seeing a pt w/diabetes, i want to know how often should certain screenings be done, common meds and dosages, side effscts, how often they need to see an endocrinologist, etc. anyone aware of such a book?

I had outpatient medicine recall and it was okay, but really out of date (published 1998). I don't really recommend it. I also used Blueprints Family Medicine which I thought was a good book, easy to carry back and forth to clinic but doesn't fit in pocket

We were given Guide to the Family Medicine Clerkship (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbninquiry.asp?userid=pi62BE7wcF&pwb=1&ean=9780781723497) at our med school, in large part because it was written by our family med faculty. But it was a very useful fit-in-the-pocket book, and I didn't find it necessary to buy another one. It sounds like it has what you're looking for: concise, practical info about the commonly encountered problems.
