The bookstore lady told me that in years past the school sent out the information for the book, but this year we have to seek it out for ourselves. I ordered mine and it's around $39. I'm not sure if we'll need them or not, but I figure it's better to be over prepared than under prepared. briannarenee316 06-19-2006, 03:44 PM *but I figure it's better to be over prepared than under prepared* I agree! If it's not a tradition here, I vote we start it. wake920 06-20-2006, 08:06 AM Hey, Anyone else having trouble accessing their student email account? Richie Truxillo 06-24-2006, 12:26 PM Hi Richie... Where would one get those test bank questions? There's a CD that goes around each year that has old tests on it and study materials. It's not like this huge special advantage or anything but it does give you practice questions to get you in the right mindset I hear. I took that CD and expanded on it to about 4 gigs of stuff. The netter anatomy cd you hear about is preinstalled on there with all of my study plates. This was my first one and it turned out to be a duathlong...ugh that's right!! Philly had bad storms Saturday night, so last minute they canceled the swim because they said that there was too much debre in the river and thus unsafe for the swim. Instead, we did a 5k run, 40k bike, and a 10k run. I still want to actually do all 3 sports, so I am looking at the Triamerica series Olympic in Louisville July 22nd, or Steelhead Half Ironman in Michigan August 5th.....you game?? My 5k run went well....7:39 pace. I suck on the bike, plus my bike is circa 1980, so it took me a little over 2 hours. Then I ran about a 9 minute mile for the 10k. The bike definitely drained me.We'll have to train for one and see what we can find in WV, though I am sure it will be one very hilly course ;) -Erin wake920 06-27-2006, 07:18 PM Wake 920- I'm definately into the triathlon thing too- Definately let me know how it goes! In my oppinion the swim is the best part. Ha, and after doing one you can definately understand this comment...how crazy do your legs feel going from bike to run? For the first mile they feel like JELLO! I remember my first one I kept looking down to make sure I was actually going anywhere haa. I get home from bootcamp on the 9th of July, then am going to hit up some days lifeguarding at the ocean, see the family, etc. so I'm going to have to pass on the tri's this summer (Since I've been at bootcamp I haven't been on the bike in weeks, so I'm a little behind). We'll have to get together right when we get down there and check out the scenes..it'll be great to have someone else along for the ride! My roommate for this year is actually going to be a 2nd year down there, and told me about this great river trail right by the school for biking, running etc. And heck, if we can't find a pool nearby I'm all game for the river swim hahaha. Back in college we used to have "initiation" for the swim team and swim across the Hudson River and back (don't recommend it haha). Well, talk to you all soon! bbgirl 07-02-2006, 03:03 PM For the Grad Plus loan, when it asks how much you want to borrow, is this the total with stafford or the amount that it left after stafford. Soma is a one year, non-renewable, meaning if you are being treated for a sickness (major) when the year is up, they have the right to not renew your policy for the following year. I just wanted to add that I am going to be living in one of those apartments and it is a great place. Wonderful location, brand new building, private deck, washer and dryer in unit, and reasonable price. Also the landlord and super cool. He will even let you have pets if you talk to him ( he is letting me have my 200lb dog- I figure he is up for anything !) I hope this helps. Brianne --Good luck ! My cell doesn't get good reception at work so I could never call during the hours they were open. I wanted to see what other books/materials I should have right now. I have the medical terminology book already. Thanks!! Lori TrumpsMom 07-12-2006, 09:48 AM hey jiggles, does that mean that we have to pay the full deductible (by going to the hospital) and then we can get our office visits? i don't get it. Hey guys. Don't panic too much over the insurance. Take out the best plan you can afford, and then put it to rest. As to office visits. . . as long as you have a valid reason for the visit, if your insurance doesn't pay, student health picks up the bill. At least that's the way it has been since I started 3 years ago. BUT you do have to show proof of insurance, so don't think you can get off scot-free! Best of luck to all of you as you begin your medical journey! Canuck99 07-13-2006, 12:11 AM anyone know what time in the morning classes start. hopefully no earlier than 9am. I am new to SDN, so I hope I am not just barging in on you all. I will be attending WVSOM in the 2010 class. I am going to be in the PBL track. I have moved to Lewisburg, but have been traveling back and forth from here and PA during my transition. I am very excited to begin classes, although I have read some very negative feedback on PBL--are there any others in PBL who would like to talk more about the track? Also, I welcome feedback from anyone because I would like to get to know all of my classmates better. JohnUC33 07-16-2006, 07:05 AM Hello all! I guess I'm looking forward to that learning track partly due to the fact that the actual cases will help to solidify the information. I was a "loner" when it came to studying in undergrad, so I'm a little worried about interacting with a group though. All in all, I look forward to the track. (maybe: read below) Alright, I've ended up receiving two of the above described stethoscopes. First, my dad brought one from the WVSOM bookstore for me for a Christmas present. Well, I just had a going away party at work the other night, and they chipped in and brought me one with my name inscribed on it (didn't have the heart to tell them I already had one). Both stethoscopes are identical with the latter having my name on it; thus, I plan to keep the one I just received cause the name is already on it. First, I'm gonna see if the bookstore will give me a full refund for the one my dad got me. Its hardly been out the box any. If they don't, I plan to sell it then. If anyone is interested, PM me for the price, and I'll sell it (cheaper than the bookstore price) if they don't want to refund the money.
