Are there any recent Caribbean graduates that have been able to get an EM or Surgery placement? Are there some that tried but were unable to get placed? Input would be greatly appreciated.

Emergency Medicine is very possible.Categorical Surgery is still highly competitive at decent programs. This match list does not differentiate between categorical, and preliminary surgey which is an easy slot to get and often filled by those unable to match otherwise. It would be helpful to know that info but its likely that many of the matches are categorical. ssa915 12-04-2005, 02:49 PM Whats the difference between Categorical and preliminary surgery? I'm still applying to med schools, so im not to knowlegeable about the specifics of residencies, but I'm probably going to end up at SGU and interested in doing surgery.
