Washing your hands is fine, unless you have cuts or open sores on your hands. You're not doing any rectals or pelvics. If you decide to do a digital mouth exam for some god-awful reason, wear gloves.

We were told at our testing center that we could do either and it didn't matter. I went for the gloves because it saves time and you never have to turn your back on the patient (so you can talk the whole time). I loved it. The one time I tried to wash my hands I ran out of time to do the second wash at the end. It's nice to not have to add one more thing to remember to do before you leave the room.

With a name like "digitaldoc," I'd definitely go with the gloves!!! :eek:
