I had to look up what a greenhorn is. I hope I'm not the only one who had no idea what the word meant.

I represent the National Association of Greenhorned Persons (a chapter of Horns of Color), and I find the title deeply offensive. For generations, my greenhornéd brothers and sister have been persecuted, murdered for their prized green-ivory horns. This kind of insensitive language has no place in the medical community! If you don't change the title of your book immediately, we will be forced to gore you with our razor-sharp green horns!

OK, OK... in all seriousness, the videos and step-by-step surgical guides on Greenhorns are fantastic. You guys did a great job. I can't imagine why anyone would be offended by the title, and I think it's catchy. Don't change a thing, Andy!

I know I've been exposed to the Greenhorns title and concept for a while now, so I admit my bias, but I think it is a GREAT title for the series. Sure, I at first cocked my head to the side at the title, too. But that's part of the appeal--it caught my attention.

I agree wholeheartedly with the postitve comments I've seen already....the series has great potential. In fact, a name that might at first appear derogatory or offensive to the learner has actually proven to be a powerful way to reach out to the training physician or specialist. From what I have read and reviewed, the "For Greenhorns" series has that same potential.

Consider, if you will, the "For Dummies" series and the medical training series of "Made Ridiculously Simple" books or "Last Minute" topics. Series of this nature catch the learner's attention and that name is hard to forget. The learner, speaking as a resident physician myself, admits to the internal struggle (even if never be voiced) that a "For Dummies" or "For Greenhorns" series is PRECISELY what I need right now. There's already a plethora of books (and fewer videos) out there that try to appeal to the experienced surgeon, but that's not what the new resident needs. After being attracted to try the series, the user then discovers, of course, that the "For Greenhorns" product actually provides a great deal of information beyond the very basics, but does so in a non-threatening, easily accessible way.

The name appeals to this internal realization in the new learner. Then the content converts them to this teaching method. The series will spread by word-of-mouth through the international ranks of training surgeons, first as an underground resource, then as an openly regarded and praised resource. This will happen first in Ophthalmology, but the same series could be expanded to other fields

I offer a very enthusiastic vote in favor of the "Greenhorns" concept.

I worked construction for a while in college and greenhorn/greenboy was constantly directed toward me. It didn't bother me at all. However, I think you can come up with a better title for a book than this. Most of the people using the term greenhorn in construction probably couldn't have even read a book...But they sure could rebuild a church! 10 points for creativity, but I still don't like the title.

The title is fine, nothing offensive about that. But, I wish the book was downloadable so that I didn't have to stay on the internet to read the thing. If you have a slow connection or a dial-up connection that ties up your line, then it is a pain.

We're working on a print-on-demand version. Would you pay for a DVD with high resolution movies? The high resolution movies are over 2-3 GB and not ideal for download.
