After reading up on floaters I was wondering if procedures are becoming more prevalent for them. I mean, besides vitrectomies for severe cases or whatever, is laser gaining popularity?

View Full Version : Prevalence of procedures for floaters HessExpress 12-20-2005, 11:22 AM After reading up on floaters I was wondering if procedures are becoming more prevalent for them. I mean, besides vitrectomies for severe cases or whatever, is laser gaining popularity? Retinamark 12-21-2005, 05:51 AM I've never heard of any reputable institutions doing laser for floaters. There is one guy in Florida who does a lot of it, but I can't help thinking that if he has done as many as he says & it works as well as he says, why has he not published his results & why has no-one else been able to achieve the same results. I can't help wondering if he is just doing it for the money & he just doesn't see the resulting retinal tears / detachments, because they get referred to a retina specialist somewhere else I'd be very interested to hear if anyone else is doing them Andrew_Doan 12-21-2005, 07:54 AM As Retinamark pointed out, the incidence for retinal tears and detachments after laser is not trivial. This is not a standard of care for floaters. |
