Does any one know if St.Vincent will participate in the match? Their Chairman has said that if they do not find a new hospital they might not even take part in the match and not rank their applicants. I wish they were more forthcoming about this. I would appreciate yor responses.
TIA

Hi Medonly,
Are you referring to the St. Vincent's in Manhattan (I learned on the interview trail that there are two hospitals calling themselves "St. Vincent's)? I have heard that the hospital is bankrupt, but didn't know they needed to relocate. Sorry I don't have more info.
St Vincents health system operates a couple of hospitals in NYC.
If you are worried about dealing with a company in chapter 11, you shouldn't fly any of the major airlines these days. A Chapter11 filing is a strategic move by management to reduce labor cost, not necessarily a reflection of a companies financial situation.

This is an example of someone who hangs around the water cooler too much.
It's a strategic move to prevent your creditors from closing your doors is what it is. And it most certainly is a reflection of a companies financial situation. Does it mean that the hospital will cease to exists, maybe that's less of a threat. Just ask Ames, or Kmart, ahh never mind........
I lost the point of this, it was just such a "clinician" comment that I had to say something.

At least in theory.
