Just curious as to whether anyone out there has any advice, links, contacts, etc. for possible work or research opportunities overseas that I could possibly obtain as I will be finishing my first year of medical school and would like to be overseas for the summer and also gain some clinical or research experience in the process.

One great resource is the IFMSA (International Federation of Med Students' Associations). www.ifmsa.org

They have both research and clinical exchange programs all around the world, both in bi-lateral and uni-lateral exchanges.

There are many other programs available, too, many of which can be found just by googling.

Finally, many people set up international experiences for themselves, both clinical and research, by getting in direct contact with someone based whereever you'd like to go. This can be done through connections (ask friends, professors, residents, etc.), or through independant search.
