Several faculty and I are starting a monthly ophthalmology newsletter/review for new and current residents & fellows. The purpose of the newsletter is to provide you with review articles and questions that will help new residents get up to speed and to stimulate review for current residents & fellows. If you would like to opt into this newsletter, then please e-mail me with your Name and E-mail address at: adoan@medrounds.org
Some suggestions for topics are:
1) Basic techniques
2) Drug and treatment updates
3) Review of advanced techniques
4) Mystery diagnosis with prizes for winners
5) Fundamentals for new residents and medical students
Please provide your ideas here for a newsletter targeted for you.

We have over two dozen people sign up last week. If you're a newly matched resident, then I recommend that you sign up. We'll send you ophthalmology pearls to help you think about eyes during your internship!

That's a great idea Andrew - thanks a lot.
Some other potential ideas:
recommended instructional books, cd-roms, videos, etc
oppurtunities for international ophthalmology during/after residency
featured subspecialists/subspecialties (a glimpse into a field outside of the personalities in our individual departments)

Also, it might be nice to get info on things to buy as a first year (I am looking to buy new compact PC but don't know what ophtho stuff I can download etc)
Any intro advice for the first couple of months of starting residency would be really helpful.
I am starting my ophtho residency this june, but don't have a clue - what to expect!!!
